Excellent-- lets try and stop keg'ers and have our kids start drinking hard liquor.  Did that ever occur to you Sanborn?

 Hey I've got an idea, let's put a tag on a matress and then fine someone for taking it off. We need more silly legislation aimed solely at increasing revenue without officially calling it a tax.

 This would lead to the person signing for the keg to be intirely responsible for the actions of those consuming the beer. A wonderful thought, but not inclusive of all of the events that lead up to trouble. Why not make everyone who drinks from the keg sign as well?

 Democrats, I believe, are unanimously Constitutional dimwits when it comes to legislating... it's sad to see so many Republicans following suit.

1.) An inattentive store clerk may forget to attach a tag when I buy the keg, then the owner will stick me with a fine when I return the keg.

2.) If I throw a party with a keg of beer, some drunken sot with a eye for a prank can swipe the tag off the top of my keg and I'll be liable.

3.) The contents of a keg with a tag can be transferred to a keg without a tag easily enough. Kegs without tags will certainly be available in Ohio, Canada, ebay, etc. So what are we proving with a tag?

4.) Why do legislators find it necessary to meddle in the affairs of the private sector?

5.) Is it really worth sticking someone in the clink for 93 days because an overzealous bulldog pup ate their kegger tag?

It is so nice to see are legislatures on both sides of the aisle earning their money. Michigan is a billion or two in the hole and we've got full time legislators mandating beer kegs.  I wonder if this program is covered by stimulus money. God help us.

This bill is nothing other than a proposal for further expansion of the police state. 

Note, in the history of its passage by the Senate, the bill was amended to reduce infraction penalties for the retailer (licensed seller), while maintaining a substantial penalty for Joe Private Citizen.  Another example of the police-statist-commercial-economic-interest conspiracy to control and stick it to ordinary citizens.

UntaxMe: I agree! "it's sad to see so many Republicans following suit". There isn't much difference (if any?) between a Democrat (Liberal) and a Republican these days! Maybe the Libertarian party, or some other constitution suporting party, will begin to prevail in this country?

Honda, You are correct. There is not alot of differences in some republicans and democrats, but it appears that the majority of the repubs have maintained their sanity, while all but a very slim few demos lost theirs long ago. The dems are following their agenda they have been working on for years. Non of either party are checking with their constituents before voting for the big issues, and more important non are reading the bills before they are passed. A third party has been around for years and the way things are going it may just re-surface and bring sanity to what we all believe in and that is the United States of America, one nation under God. And back to "For the People, By the People".

 This has got to be one of the most insane pieces of legislation to come out of our legislature in a long time. Well maybe not in a long time but this one is at the top of the list..

 We need to vote out the as$holes that would pass this kind of bill.  What is it other than more red tape and money for a nanny state.  What was the problem before???  What does this fix???? Just more money to live in MI. Thats right its the social evil of alcohol.  I can run a red light doing a doughnut.  Reckless driving and disobey a signal.  Secetary of state only keeps points for 2 years.  I can do that every 2 years and a couple months and never lose my lincence.  3 alcohol tickets in YOUR LIFETIME your a felon !!  No drinking & driving is not ok but lets get real.  Did you know the woman for MADD go her drinking & driving ticket. She got a slap on the wrist.  She made the state enough money so its ok.?
