Seriously! The problem with prescription drugs is not getting them at your pharmacy. Seriously. So, now every time we go to pick up our prescription (usually at the drive thru) we also have to show photo identification? Our pharmacy already asks us to verify our address every time we pick up a prescription. I also frequently have my mom pick up prescriptions for me when I have to work late. What about prescriptions for children (who may have a different last name). It seems like a lot of ridiculous red tape.
The problem with prescription control is not at the pharmacy level. After all, most people get a prescription from their doctor and take it straight to the pharmacy to get filled. So, who exactly is going to be perpetrating someone else to get a prescription?
If anything, the problem with prescription control is that people who are legitimately getting a prescription for themselves turn around and sell those pills to other people. And physicians are EXTREMELY cautious in what they are prescribing. As a matter of fact, any time that I have needed to see a doctor for pain (even in the ER), they are suprised that I don't want stong medications. At a major doctor's office in town, they monitor cronic pain patients carefully, make them do random drug tests (if you test positive for illegal drugs , they cancel your legal prescription priveleges), etc.
