Better ban having anything in your hands while driving then...cigarettes, lipstick and make-up, a razor, food, beverage.  Cell phones are definitely not the only culprit.  I hate laws that just pick at one thing, especially when they cause people more money!

Another stupid emotional response to a perceived problem.  If they are going to ban the use of cell phones they should ban passengers in vehicles too.  The cell phone may be a distraction at times but it also allows people to conduct business while traveling, thus making cell phone productive tools.  This bill should not pass.

Again with the parenting legistation proposals!  The Michigan Motor Vehicle Code has "Distracted Driver" prohibitions already.  Enforce those.  This is just another way to collect revenues in the name of "protecting" citizens.  Here is a hint for the Michigan Legislature:  prohibiting use of cell phones while driving WILL NOT CREATE JOBS OR INPROVE OUR ECONOMY.    Focus on REAL issues, those that are driving residents and jobs out of state,  not poor legislation to further reach into our pockets.   Oh, but that would require real insight and work.

Wow, really helpful! So when I see a drunk driver on the road or someone tailgating and speeding excessively I won't be able to dial 911. How about we just use the laws on the books to punish those that are irresponsible instead of trying to make more money off of the responsible people!

Shocking proposed by a DEMOCRAT - just take our rights to make decisions for ourselves away and tax the @!>>@@ out of us!

obviously you haven't read the proposed bill.  if you do, you'll see that it permits the use of a hand-held cell phone to report crashes, emergencies, etc.  also, the prohibition does NOT apply to hands-free cell phones!!!  people, do your homework before posting ridiculous garbage like this.
