On the surface this seems like a good idea, both for the consumers and the car builders.  I doubt it will go anywhere as this State cant get enough money to throw away at their constant attempts to engage in Behavior Modification thru taxes, or fees.

Too bad that while it will get the support of the people it will not get the support of those that feel they are our RULERS.

I actually think this move was made a the right time, it will most certainly help the auto makers while alloweing a chance to people to aspire for a new car. I am sure this will have an effect on donate car program, some people will be more willing give their old cars.

We don't need more tax breaks for special interests groups.  We need real government reform and lower taxes and less regulation.  That is how we will fix the Michigan economy.  BTW, by business would benefit greatly from this law.

Yet when a tax increase is suggested, (taxing pensions), you support it, or in this case a tax decrease, you are opposed. Who is not a "special interest group" and deserves lower taxes? Just curious.

This would be a lot easier for the car purchasers but I guess we`ll just have to wait and see what happens, if they really decide to implement this regulation feature. I recently bought our family`s new car from Hyundai NH and I never even thought about tax deduction. I have rested my case since were yet to have brought this whole tax deduction thing into discussion. Anyway, I am so pleased with the new car that I really think it`s worth every penny, with or without the tax deduction.
