Not only do I not believe it's the state's responsibility to start reimbursing for medical equipment and that this is another foray into socialized medicine, I question-why hearing aids? Why not eyeglasses? or dentures? What do we intend to tax to pay for this? Loud Rap music?

This is ridiculous.  It's just another step toward socialized medicine.  What makes hearing aids andy different than eye glasses, artificial limbs, false fingernails, etc.?  I bought my own hearing aids because I wanted them.  I could live without them.  Would the government also then buy batteries for them?  They don't last long.  How about cocular implants?  What about life saving stents, or heart transplants?  Why should the government be involved at all?

As usual, the government of the State of Michigan is having a hard time making ends meet.  In order to balance the state budget, do you:

    a) Increase taxes.

    b) Reduce spending.

    c) Do both A and B.

    d) Give away hearing aids.

If you answere "d", you're an absolute moron.  Thank you for your time.

Aww, don't be so cynical.  It's just as likely that it's his wife, or her brother, or their nephew or other friend or family member that sells 'em.

How do these people come up with this stuff?!

What kind of idiot is this Tupac? The state's in the hole and he wants to give away free hearing-aids! What a top-notch state legislature we have!

Michigan must put their finances in order before giving away ANYTHING else!!!

How about paying for glasses for those qualifying under the same criteria?

We will remember this next time they ask for more taxes,

    and it passed unanimously!!! unbelieveable.

Please, someone, just what is the rationale behind ME being forced to pay for someones hearing aid when they make $100.000.00 a year????????????????????????

The rationale is this:  HA HA HA, YOU CAN'T STOP US!

With a little luck, Obama will print some $$$ and send them to Michigan to help "the poor"--which will soon be all of us if this legislature has its way.  Heck, I guess if you make under $100,000, these people already believe you're poor.

DO remember in November.  It's not just the federal legislators who can be kicked out.

Yes, but the real choices were made in August and we're in for more of the same.  When something like this passes unanimously it is a clear sign that the Democrats and the Republicans are all the same.  The only way to change this behavior is take back the Republican party and the only way to do that is from the bottom up.  Next time the opportunity arises, we must run for precinct delegate positions.

Bill 403 is another obozo style take over of private choices and responsibilities.  Shame on the state senate for passing such a gimmick for votes.

The state of Michigan does not have money to pay for everything now.  QUIT TRYING TO GIVE AWAY MORE MONEY!~!~!

This is actually a hard bill for me.  I consider myself to be very conservative, however, there are people out there - like me personally - who cannot afford the hearing aids that they need to go about living their daily lives.  I can't hear very much at all without mine, but with it I can hear within normal hearing range.  There is some assistance out there to enable people with disabilities so that they can work, but what happens when they choose not to work because they want to stay at home with their kids or if they are too old to continue working?  I wonder if insurance should be required to cover hearing aids for certain levels of hearing loss?  Would that be better?  I don't have all the answers, but at least this bill is attempting to solve the issues out there for people like me.

In other words, I'm against government aid unless I'm getting it. A trait you share with many so-called Conservatives, tea partiers, and Republicans.
