Yep, let's just dumb down the prerequisites for college even more. Of course the student will have to take remedial labs when they get to college but what the heck; it's only taxpayer money being wasted.
The discipline that is involved in higher mathematics is essential to any core curriculum contrary to what so many say about never needing to know any of it when they get a "real" job. Don't believe it. I use Algebra and Geometry all the time in my quilting. I have helped many kids with their homework because their parents, who didn't bother with anything beyond basic math, couldn't.
So, I would like to see 4 years of mathematics required for any State/taxpayer funded college monetary awards. Along with 4 years of Literature, Science, Geopolitical courses. In other words, if you aren't serious about a college education then attend a trrade or technical school and stop wasting my money.
