Stupid! They should be charged with animal cruelty.

 i thought beastiality was supposed to be a very heinous crime. peta will soon drive the direction of our entire government, if we let them.

Beastiality is a sin, in most religions. Animal abuse is a crime, in our country. Governments deal with crimes, religions with sins.

 so do you believe that the crime of animal abuse deserves to be continually punished by being placed forever on some list?

A typical question intended to provoke rather than further the discussion. If the crime is animal cruelty, rather than sodomy or bestiality, follow the logic, if you can.

 if there were logic, i wouldn't have to ask the question. how is that question provocative? the topic is whether or not animal sodomites should be placed on sexual offender lists. you haven't answered the basic question on your views of the basic premise of the thread.

and, according to the question, the crime is not  animal cruelty, it is animal sodomy. stop changing the argument to fit your preconcieved notions. now, if you feel that all animal sodomy is animal cruelty, and that the laws surrounding both should be changed, i'd be happy to hear your opinions on that as well.

 This is the most assinine piece of fluff, I have ever read. The sex offender registry was created to protect children. It has been misused by vote whoring politicians so long that the registry no longer does what it was intended to do, increase public awareness of High risk offenders. Now in an effort to look good rather than solve Michigans real problems another vote whore comes along with another waste of taxpayers money. How in god's name will this protect children or anyone for that matter. It' just another way for a greedy politician to add a notch to his/her belt because they know that no one in the legislature would dare vote against this and look soft on sex offenders. What a shame these idiots take advantage of the voting public this way.

I agree outraged, this is assinine. This seems like an abuse of the sex offenders list.

 This legislation is frivolous and its sponsor has no right to be a legislator and/or taken seriously.

Because sodomy is so poorly defined in Michigan law, I have a somewhat different problem with this bill. As a dog breeder, the management of my animals' reproduction sometimes requires digital evaluation of prostate health (in males) and rectal exams of females in labor to determine the position of an unborn puppy. In an era where dog breeders are under constant attack by animal rights activists, the Michigan Association of Purebred Dogs opposes this bill.

 sex offender lists are supposed to protect children, not animals. lists actually do nothing to protect anyone. they have been the reason for several murders though.
