 Michigan unemployment is now 11.6% and they're worried about bottle deposits???

Just stop sending our water to dry states so they can water the golf courses -- terrible.

Michigan's bottle bill has been an enormously successful law, with in the range of 96% compliance (96% of deposits are redeemed).  It has encouraged materials rec ycling and helped reduce roadside and other public litter.  The law is heavily supported and favored by the general public.  The law warrants updating to include all carbonated and non-carbonated beverages to keep up with consumption trends.  This bill or its equivalent should pass.

 Vote NO on this bill.  If you want people to recycle then make recycling easier and cheaper.  I cannot

afford, in this economy to pay additional for recycle pick-up.  The nearest recycle center cost me too

much in gas to get there.  Put up a few recycling drop spots around and people will fill them up without

an added law.  Stop imposing more and more laws on the citizen.  Small government.  Work on volunteerism.

Most people are happy to comply with recycling when it is accessible. More law = More big government.  STOP.

More, convenient recycle drop spots would be less expensive and consumer friendly then having the

government impose of the citizen again.  It would also be less expensive for manufacturers and retail stores.

How much space is a retailer suppose to waste on bottle returns? Will they be forced to reduce inventory, increase prices,

purchase storage sheds? Enough is enough.

 If people were so supportive they would be recycling without an added expense to

their grocery bill,  without an added storage container in their home or garage and

without added government oversight.  People are welcome to recycle all the products

listed in this bill already without government interference.  Make recycle access

easier and people will recycle without more government regulations.
