Re: 2009 House Bill 4498 (Revise prison time off for good behavior )

Perhaps people who are as narrow minded as you should be rounded up an shipped out via cattle car and exterminated!!!  The system of "Law and Order" has systematically created a cash cow system, where they perpetuate jobs for law enforcement, lawyers, judges, drug treatment centers, drug testers, , and so on. They dont want things to change, people to actually be reformed, learn new skills ect. for if people actually did turn their lives around, the JOBS perpetuated for those working in  "honest" fields would be diminished.   I use the word "honest" loosely, because it is criminal how our system works....   The "honest" system and those working in it have "created" many criminals out of many young people to keep themselves in a JOB!

You should actually go to the juvenile court and study what goes on there  to create future criminals.  Most of which start out smoking pot, and end up as hardened criminals because of your "honest system" perpetuating jobs for themselves....

I support the house bill 4498, and it should be passed yesterday!

I agree. Only non violent offenders should be offered the opportunity to escape the nightmare of prison.  Every law cannot be applied consistantly across the board because every person is not violent.  It seems our jails and prisons become packed with every small offense b ecause the judicial system just believes that is where all "bad" people are to be. // Jail and prison is not the answer,  Many minor offenders should be mandated to work off all costs involved in their offense. NOTE: This applies only to non-violent offenders, bad check, petty theft, drug user (not dealer, transporter, etc).  I think I am becoming more affraid of our laws than I am the lawless.

Propsecutors job is to do everything within his ability and resources to put you in jail despit the fact that you are innocent, or in the least, don't really require being incarcerated.  In fact, I believe many of them should be prosecuted and put into jail.  I would even like to see it that all prosecutors and judges be required to spend 90 days in jail before they move to their elected position.  They need to clearly see, feel, experiance and enjoy the sfield trip.

I also  believe that the porsecutor should be just as interested in the innocence of the person they are prosecuting, but they have tunnel vision.  On the other hand where would we be without them?

My name is Jennifer and I am engaged to #1044651. I realize that people who commit crimes need to be punished, but when that person is a victim of addiction and life circumstances. And when that person was a productive member of society whom held a job for over 18 years, owned his own home payed his taxes and paid his child support. I feel this bill should apply to him even though it was a Class A felony. I feel all these factors should be taken into consideration especially since it was a non violent crime and -the prisons are so over crowded. Please consider these things when passing this bill as some people are victims of there circumstances and could turn it back to whom they were before.

Sorry Jennifer...a crime is a crime and the law must apply to everyone equal.  I agree that some of these idiotic laws are rediculous, especially the march against our second ammendment.  Many high powered people get a pass and the American Citizen gets no pass.  It is more a matter of keeping us in line.  Myself Prosecuting Attorneys are one of the most evil.  They really don't give a f... if you are guilty or not, all they want is a conviction and they will do eveything in their powe to achieve that goal.  My son was parosecuted for having a knife in a car that did not belong to him, but that made no difference to the prosecutor.  Lucky for me I was able to accumulate enough evidence that the judge over ruled the charge, but he still did not get away.  He was still punished.  So be it.  The law is the law.  Addiction and life circumstances does not change the fact that he had a choice and he made the wrong choice.  My son had no choice as he had no knowledge of the crime but this made no differenceBroken Heart

Big Smile Great idea.  Experiance is the best teacher.  Yet if you were a victim wpi;d you not want to see the criminal in prison.Big Smile

I understand your points. But what about 10-25 for someone who was a productive member of society and, whom was not a career criminal? I mean taking time off the front for someone, should be a option for them as long as it was not violent. I just believe that even though it is the "Law" there should be a compromise for some without a record. People change and putting them in prison for a 10 year sentence could change them into a resentful person toward the system and might make them a career criminal and if we had just rehabilitate them with some punishment then they still learn the lesson intended and could make changes to put there lives back on track. And yes the prosecuting attorney's are trying to get that "Conviction" and probably receive a "Kick back" for doing so> But when does the united states start eliminating some of that pure evil and go back to the constitution " every man is innocent tell proven guilty" and deserves a "fair trial". When do the Americans stand up and push there beliefs and actually be heard so changes can be made to restore our constitution and the way our forefathers believed. I think the president should be doing so and "We the people" should all stand together and be heard.

What I mean by saying I have been a victim is: I have been robbed at gun point, car jacked and almost killed on at least two occasions. However, I dont hold those experiences against all people who have been convicted of a crime.
