I am proud of my Senator Martha G Scott (D-Highland Park). For showing her concerns about legel utilities shut offs for non-payment. This one just one of the many crisis that society faces everyday without getting help from the proper resources.  Also thanks to other State Reps and Senators who are stepping forward to help their Citizens who live in their Districts, and else where by creating their vision of the Shutoff restrictions on utility shutoff for non-payment.

Now what we all (Citizens) need to do is to support these types of bills. Speaking about this bill reminds me of the homeless man that frozen to death, and the 93 year old man who died in Bay City Michigan with his bill money in his hands. So lets take this a step farther by thinking about the many Families here in Michigan who is experiencing a utility shutoff crisis this winter, and hopefull next winter season everyone will have a better option. My finial words is to anyone who may experience a utility crisis during the cold winter months. Its against the law for companies to disconnect a persons utilities during the Winter season, but the clause is one MUST call the company to make payment arrangements, and must keep those arrangement.

how about we mandate that all houses in the state have solar heating? that would solve your problem, but create a new one. how are you going to afford solar heating when you can't afford regular heating?

How about we impose restrictions on utility shutoff for nonpayment. Wow, that's just what this thread is about. Nothing in the bill about solar heating.

so why not just have the utility provided by the state? that way we can have universal heat to go with our universal healthcare. you never do say how the utility is supposed to foot the bill for all the gas or electricity it provides those who cannot and will not pay.

They can collect payment the same way credit cards and banks do, through legal collection proceedings. No other business is allowed to kill people to collect a debt.
