Why does this have to be a law?  If people want to contribute to a PAC let them write a check!

Why should I be forced to contribute to a polical party via a Union employee that I don't like or believe in.?

This is suppose to be a free country.

This bill would amend the campaign finance law to allow:

<(g) The use of public resources to permit a public employee to

contribute to a political action committee of the employee's

collective bargaining unit by payroll deduction, if the collective

bargaining unit provides full compensation to the public body for

    the use of the resources.>

Wouldn't cost the taxpayers a dime.

i wonder, can a union employee decide that his money get spent on republican campaigns & political action committees?

He can decide to either give or not to a union pac, depending on who they support.

so your answer is no, they cannot decide that their union money will go to a republican.

They can decide where their money will go. That's all any of us can do.

why can't i designate that my money go to the republicans? aren't union member's wishes being considered and respected as to where and how the member's money is spent?

You can. Give your money to another pac, a pac that isn't concerned for the well being of the worker. Almost any Republican pac would meet that qualification. You don't have to give your money to the Union pac, and this bill doesn't change that.

obviously the union isn't concerned about the worker either, if the worker's wishes as to which party's pac gets that particular union member's money. it's okay to have them donate to the democrats, all you have to do is check 'yes' on the form, but you cannot have them donate to the republican, there is no option for that. i thought that kind of discrimination was illegal. i guess it's not if you are a union. i wonder how many union members would voluntarily donate their money to the republicans if given a chance?

They have the chance, nobody is stopping them.
