I dont think we need any more laws to encourage police to confiscate guns-they are already being confiscated in situations where the gun was NOT related to the crime but taken simply because officialdom wishes to remove guns from citizens. If you give the right to keep confiscated guns to local police, you now add a profitablilty motive to gun confiscation. There have been far to many cases of confiscated guns ending up in the personal posession of policemen or back on the street.Lets not be adding to the ability of possibly corrupt policement to access poorly-reguated guns to use in a 'throw-down' situation. Lets stop the confiscation of unrelated guns althgether-NOT give local police more reason to illegally confiscate or 'disappear' guns thru mismanagement.

Looky here... a LITERAL "gun grabber" bill!  Isn't this what the NRA has been warning us about for years now?  Guess they aren't so crazy!

well yes, stu. it IS what the n.r.a. has warned us about for years.

any state that has so little regard for the second amendment rights of it's citizens that they mandate every weapon be catalogued by the state for easy confiscation will not be bothered with fourth amendment search and seizure issues involving the confiscation of those very weapons.

this is my first visit to this web site. No wonder our State/Country is in so much trouble. I am amazed at how bad the politicians' mentality of perpetuating the "nanny" State.  US Constitution calls for a limite government. MI should become a part time legislative body, politicians have too much time on their hands writting these mandates for it's citizens.

What we have now is a dictatorship, and I find this frighting!

So now you want the police to be thiefs and allow them to keep somebody gun that was stolen in the first place.I think you law maker are a bunch of thiefs anyway so I can see why you are passing this type of legislation so you can get your slimy hand on some of the guns.

The only thing are government is good at is creating more government.  Easiest way to do that is scaring people into thinking they need protecting (NANNY STATE). Every new law is about making more money for the state.  We have enough laws if they were inforced.
