Re: 2009 House Bill 4419 (Close restaurants that don’t comply with all state regulations )

why close businesses that don't comply with your wishes? your wish is that people stop smoking in your presence. your actions say that you have a predilection for being where people smoke. your actions seem contrary to your wishes. if your motives are to be in a smoke free environment, you need to stop acting like your motives are to strip smokers of their rights and start placing yourself in a smoke free environment. it is not the job of government to provide you with a smoke free environment. it is your job. that would fall under "persuit of happiness".  you seem very intolerant of others who persue their happiness in ways that don't comply with your wishes. people who try to remove the rights and freedoms of others are tyrants. some don't suffer tyrants well. any law that effects a small group is bad law.

Yooper - our Founding Father's are rolling over in their graves due to people like you. Nor, do I believe that they would "change" the rights of private establishments to suit your needs.  Choice, Yooper, choice!  You have a choice whether to partake of what an establishment offers.  If they allow smoking then you can go somewhere else.  Again, it is called "Freedom of Choice."  I think the language in the 9th Amendment is very, very clear.  You can also read Frederick Bastiat's - "The Law."

We do not need "Change Agents" destroying the meaning of the Bill of Rights, or the Declaration of Independence.  I think our Founding Fathers were a lot more intelligent than either you or I -- and especially those who are supposed to be representing us today.  Most of those who cry "change" today are "STATISTS" who want government to ignore, abrogate, and violate the limits that our founding fathers placed on government through our U.S. Constitution.

Go out and purchase Mark Levin's new book "Liberty and Tyranny."  Government under the constitution does not have the RIGHT to dictate to a private business that pay their taxes, lease, rent et al,  to be able to run their business as they see fit. We don't need government tyranny.  If you don't like to smell or breath in smoke go to an establishment that does not allow smoking.  It is very simple! That is your CHOICE.  Get it "choice."

You can choose to go somewhere were they don't allow smoking, or perfume or peanuts or animal dander.  But, you don't dictate that all businesses have to follow that venue.  I don't go to strip bars because I do not find them to my liking, but I do not dictate that no establishment can allow stripping.  Neither are they some place that I would like to take a child.  But, they are not meant for children - only adults.  I do not believe in banning adult bookstores, even though I would not go into one. I do not like businesses or concerts that play loud, ear piercing music, so I don't go into them.  Neither would I ban them. It all comes down to choice, which you would like to ban others from having.

I want people in elected office who will represent the people within the boundaries and confines of what of what the U.S. Constitution allows.  No more and no less.  This is the last response from me to you, because in my opinion I am communicating with a brick wall.

Me too, inform. I want people representing me who don't just represent special interest, like smokers. I want them to make decisions that are for the good of all their constituents, or at least the majority of them.

help all. harm none. take no rights away. to do less is tyranny. law that effects only a small group is bad law. law that is not good for all citizens is bad law.

No I do not go into bars that allow smokeing, I only go to bars that are smoke free, which are hard to come by, and the ones I have found you can't get a table due to it always being busy, always.  To tell you the truth I could care less about the bars, it is more the restaurants that I am concerned with.  I don't think it is right to subject children to a smokey atmosphere.

if you think it's not right to subject children to a smoky atmosphere, don't. if you think we need more smoke free restaurants, open one.
