Anyone who hunts or owns guns of any type should be supporting this.  There is a bill in the house that has the potential to limit 2nd amendment rights.  It is HR45 and I think it's call the Blair Holt firearm licensing and record of sale act.

While I can agree with virtually everything in this resolution, I still have to question why it is worthy of the legislature’s time and effort.

To me it only seems like so much political posturing – pandering to a perceived pro-gun rights constituency -- that accomplishes nothing in dealing with real issues faced by the State of Michigan and Michiganders.

Now that this resolution has been duly introduced, let it just float off into oblivion while the legislature gets on with real work.

Don't give away your constitutional rights so easily, they were pretty difficult to get in the first place.

By the way, have you looked at the Blair Holt firearm licensing and record of sale act?

Although I can see why sanemichigander would consider this political posturing because so much of what comes out of Lansing is just that, this bill should pass.  Washington's HR 45 is truly frightening in that it is an obvious attempt to circumvent Amendment II of the US Constitution.  We must fight to protect this right and this bill is an affirmation of Michigan's commitment to allow its citizens to protect themselves from a potentially out of control government.

This bill should move forward. Hopefully this is not too late in our American Democratic Republic (of Obomination).

The right of the people to keep and bear arms must be a protection preserved at all costs.  This protection by the 2nd Amendment and Article I, section 6 of the Michigan, "Every person has a right to keep and bear arms for the defense of himself and the state"   was promulgated to preserve our freedoms against a tyrannical government.

     hey insane...

wasn't it YOU who said that he didn't trust the average michigander with a gun?

wasn't it YOU who predicted that guns and other weapons would only lead to increased violence and mayhem?

wasn't it YOU who is being proven wrong every day by the exemplary record of concealed weapons holders?

yeah... it was YOU. but YOU have the nerve to say you AGREE with what this resolution says???

    how hypocritical.

Re: 2009 House Concurrent Resolution 9

This bill is probably one of the most grass roots bills that have been authored in our state in awhile. There has been 9 states to my knowledge that have proclaimed sovernty. Gun control or even the elimination of the 2nd amendment has been a democrat party policy for some years. If and when this bill passes it will help other states do the same and even though legislators do not listen to us individually they will recognize that our state and its people will not be bullied by the factions that want to disarm us. I support this bill with my heart and feel that it will play a big part in the life's of our children and their children. To take away any part of our countries constitution is voiding the entire constitution and Michigan has the opportunity to tell the factions in the federal government that we will not let that happen.

With God's speed other states will follow this message to the anti firearm factions in Washington and around the country.

then why do you support anti-gun legislation?

why do you oppose this bill?

why don't you trust your fellow citizens to keep and bear arms?

in short, if you are so PRO-GUN, why are you still a democrat?

This resolution is not foolhardy "Posturing."  With all that is happening in our Congress to undermine our U.S. Constitution's protections we need to have State representatives doing everything to enforce and restore those protections.

There is also legislation in the State of Michigan to enforce "States' Rights - ie., the 10th Amendment.

Instead of trying to beat off a home invader with a kitchen spatula -- this lady is planning on getting herself a hand gun in the very near future.  I want to have my lawful rights enforced to protect me from the law breakers.

    Inform4,

If you have no experience with firearms especially handguns you should take the first step course in pistol safety and handling and then persue the CPL course if you plan on going out side with your firearm. You do not need special permits to have a gun or use it inside of your dwelling, but you should know how to use it and understand its capabilities. There is a course offered called Protection in the Home that you can also take if you have no knowledge. Common sense is the basis of most everything. Here in Michigan and around the country we have instructors that do not have to do what they are doing, but are instructing for the protection of each and every person that uses a firearm. They do not get paid and they pay special attention to your needs and abilities. I was an instructor for many years and now due to experience of the instructors the classes keep getting better.

Good luck in your pursuit of rights and liberty and as crazycajun stated get training to use it properly, keep it clean. The rest is your decision.

I plan to ask the business where I purchase my hand gun where to find the nearest gun range for my training and proper care.  That has been upper-most in my mind when I purchase a gun.

let me know if you can't find a good range...

local gun shop should have some good input as to where the best ranges are...

    be safe.
