This sounds like a good idea to me.  At least maybe we can see where the money is going, even if our legislators don't listen to what we have to say.

why aren't democrats proposing ideas like this? i thought their new idea was transparency.

I can't speak to that on the state level but they did (bi-partizan really) on the federal level.  Even though congressional Republicans (and Democrats) supported it, the Bush administration opposed it.  Anyway; http://www.usaspending.gov/ was the final result.  It took so long to happen and was so nutered by the bush appointy to the office, that google also created their own government search engine using their own engine and algorythms.

Yea, I really would like to see this for Michigan-- well for all states really.

the federal proposal was (as usual) so full of PORK that the president found that, like trueblue, he could not support the work of his own party.

it's a bad position to be in, when one professes one thing, but finds himself through necessity, forced to vote against it.

there are also those that are against this show of transparency on cost issues alone. they ask themselves if transparency is actually worth the billions in spending it could cost to get it. some conservatives say no. most democrats do not wish the government to be THAT TRANSPARENT.

This bill would pay for itself once the information was on line and publicized.

only IF the citizens held the politicians RESPONSIBLE for their spending.

the left has a nagging tendency to forgive such things.
