Oh sure.  In the meantime we can have the school administration and teachers indoctrinate the students before the school election.

i don't believe the students have much financial repercussions from the results of their vote. they won't have to pay the tax raises for at least another six years. they won't care what the elections is for, and all they will hear is the "vote yes for..." side.

You surely have that correct, crazycajun.  Then they'll graduate and move out of the area so that they won't have to burdened with the higher taxes!  Yes

of course, we COULD hold them responsible to pay for any taxes that they vote on...

that might stop them from pulling the YES lever so readily.

There was an excellent reason for amending the United States Constitution in 1971, allowing all 18-year old citizens to vote.  At the time 18-year olds were of age to be conscripted into the US Army (and some into the Marines), or volunteer without parental permission to serve in any of the armed services, and sent to be cannon fodder in the Vietnam War.  Surely, if they were old enough to slaughter and be slaughtered in the Nation’s behalf, they were old enough to participate in electing officials who would make the decision to send them to war or bring them home, then or in the future.

There is no such rationale supporting a proposal to allow 16-year olds to vote in school elections.  At that age they are not considered old enough to shoulder any other adult responsibilities for legal purpose without a court order to do so.  At 18 they are considered under the law old enough to shoulder adult responsibilities, but still are deprived of certain adult “privileges.”  (We have a way to go yet in granting 18 year-olds full citizenship.)

    That sounds republican.... not.

That sounds logical. Sixteen year olds have no business voting for anything but class officers. I can't wait to see how cajun makes this have something to do with abortion.

i'll bet you didn't even realize that you AGREED WITH ME, in fact you almost quoted me verbatim.

you certainly agree on all the pertinent facts.

i'm republican. you agree with me...

    therefore... you sound republican.

    get over it.

There is no such rationale to support letting 20-year olds vote.

Only property owners should be allowed to vote. I think I have heard that before somewhere............

The founders knew that if you let people vote that don't have a stake in the outcome they will vote for whatever idiot promises them the most "free" stuff.

Here ends the history of how the democrat party got started.

i can agree with michpatriot, allowing those that have no 'STAKE' in the outcome of an election takes away the control of the election from the 'stakeholders' to the 'freeloaders'. it's easy for those that don't have to PAY a tax to VOTE FOR A TAX. it's not so easy to convince those who must pay the tax that it is WORTH VOTING FOR.

most voters do not know when something is worth paying for, but only want something else for free. that is the way we get high taxes with low results.

the idea that the rich will continue to be rich and continue to be here despite how much money we take away from them is just wishful thinking on the part of the left. the rich are not called UPWARDLY MOBILE for nothing, the KEY WORD here being mobile. they can just pull up stakes and move to where the taxation is not as onerous.

if everybody that VOTED for a tax had to PAY the tax, most tax votes would be much different.
