    Re: accountability

    crazycajun:

     so, please answer the questions...

WHAT exactly has our governor DONE to solve the current JOB crisis in michigan?

<not a thing.  in fact, she's raised taxes and made the crisis worse.>

WHAT exactly has our governor DONE to solve the current FISCAL crisis in michigan?

    she's had almost eight years.

<again, not a thing. her raising taxes on businesses has had disasterous effects.>

WHAT exactly has our governor DONE to keep BUSINESSES IN MICHIGAN?

    <nothing...>

    she's had almost eight years.

and before you spout on about Engler. you must remember, our governor is a TWO term governor, the governor BEFORE her WAS her.

she got elected on the promise that she would improve michigan. that she would STIMULATE JOBS, that she would STIMULATE THE ECONOMY, that she would make our state BUSINESS FRIENDLY. she has succeeded at NOTHING she has promised in almost eight years. tell me why she should be TRUSTED to succeed in the next few months.

<because she's a liberal democrat, and liberal democrats can be forgiven for anything. look at bill clinton. he would have been impeached within days if he had been a republican, but as for the democrats, they STILL love him, despite his record.>

her beloved business tax is in the process of being repealed, not by HER but by a congress in which the TAX CUTTERS are in the distinct MINORITY.

the BIG THREE failing and bailing is not the doing of the REPUBLICAN president, but the DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR.

you don't see TOYOTA execs standing before congress with their hands out.

you don't see MAZDA execs standing before congress with their hands out.

only ford, gm, and chrysler. in fact, this is the SECOND time we've had to bail out chrysler. the previous time was under carter.

if granholm WOULD have been successful, the big three wouldn't be in the mess they are in.

if the UNIONS would have been successful, the big three wouldn't be in the mess they are in.

face it.. their crisis is NOT caused by the failure of capitalism, it is caused by a failure of the ideology of the left.

as the left will not answer questions, i have taken the time to answer them for them. they had their chance, but they flubbed it again.

    Re: accountability

hey true... if this is the best she could do, you guys elected the wrong woman to do the job. then, you stepped up and RE-ELECTED her after the FIRST FOUR YEARS OF FAILURE TO DO THE JOB. at what point do you leftists REALIZE that she's not going to be able to get the job done? at what point do you leftists realize that taxing and spending isn't going to save michigan?

    NEVER.

    Re: accountability

isn't it time the people of michigan held he governor ACCOUNTABLE for her seven years of failure to bring this state out of the economic doldrums we have faced for almost as long as she has been governor?

isn't it time that the democrats wake up and realize that SHE CAUSED most of the problems she now has to 'fight'?

    yes, it IS time.

is it going to HAPPEN? no.

    Re: accountability

once again, our legislature has failed to show any signs of accountability, and opted instead to lower high school standards once again. some see this as progress, i see this as taking the cowards way out.

    Re: accountability

     accountability:

high taxes have caused business to shut down and leave. the state is being held responsible for it's anti-business policies.

poor public services have caused the crime rates in our big cities to skyrocket. the state and those cities are being held responsible for their 'soft on crime' policies and cutting budgets for police protection instead of the useless programs they hold so dear.

for a long time the citizens of this state have perceived themselves as serfs, only to do the bidding of the state, and have, as soon as possible, fled to states that offered lower taxes, less repressive legislation and more personal freedoms. the state is being held responsible for it's inability to respect the rights and freedoms of it's citizens.

for years, michigan has lead the nation in it's incarceration rate. michigan is being held responsible for it's myriad of laws designed to keep the larder full by squeezing the people and criminalizing their every move.

it is a pity that the legislators and political leaders are blind to this responsibility and refuse to see it even when it effects them negatively.

    Re: accountability

The ultimate accountability lies with the voters. To constantly complain about what politicians are doing or not doing is not fulfilling our duties as citizens. We need to learn the issues and encourage politicians with reason and knowledge to do our bidding. And voting is the ultimate example of accountability.

    Re: accountability

the problem there, jman, is that we only get to vote on him once, he gets to do harm until we can vote on him again years later. till then, he neither has to listen to our knowledge or our reasons. he simply has to vote his mind. the other problem is that there are voters who's only goal is to get a check from the government. they vote en bloc to forward that goal to the absolute exclusion of knowledge or reason.

when we get the government out of the welfare check writing business, we can start using our knowledge, and our reason.
