Frankly, the TAXES imposed by the "bad driver fees" are nothing more than revenue generators for a State Government that can't appear to do its job and hold the line on spending. This proposal takes the crap to a new level. If you are a BAD DRIVER, you are a BAD DRIVER and should not be on the road - but to suggest a limit on paying fines is a double standard - so in addition to an arbitary income limit that is exempt from paying fines, perhaps Senator Clark-Coleman should also propose exempting State Senator from the fines . . . perhaps certain other groups, like those in her district should also be exempt. Come on, either treat people equitibly with legislation or it is flawed and should be DOA.

Why don't you just go the whole distance and make the productive pay the illegal fees for the slackers. You people couldn't run a party store and you want us to take you seriously??? Do whats right and abolish your stupid little, illegal revenue generating ignorant law!!!!

I could not agree more. Exempting the elderly and "poor" from the driver responsibility fee is arbitrary and wrong. If the onerous fee is not accomplishing its stated purpose, then either fix the fee system so it works or get rid of it.

And income discrimination as well? I personally haven't had any issues with these fees, but if I or one of my dependants someday do, I feel I should be exempted also. First off, why the arbitrary age of 62? Because they've contributed enough through income taxes over their long years of gainful employment? Or are you saying you expect them to drive badly so often they won't be able to keep up with the payments? And if I had an income level 1 1/2 times the federal poverty level I could drive poorly to my heart's content as well? That makes a lot of sense. Lose the stupid act entirely. Also, in striking out the verbiage you did, it appears to not matter if you had insurance without proof in the vehicle, you will still be fined.

Why would they want to do this? They keep telling us that these draconian fees don't hurt anyone, they just do it for your own good, to make you a better driver don't you know. Horse Squeeze! Anytime anybody from the government tells you that they only have your best interests at heart, RUN, run as fast as you can.

Now do any with the entire stupid "bad driver fees" idea.

 the truth is, as evidenced by the fact that they instituted the fees in the first place, that they DON'T want to get rid of them. they want them to stay, and they want us to stay 'GROUND BENEATH THE HEEL OF GOVERNMENT' for as long as possible,

they've just started feeling sorry for the 'poor' and the 'old', because they feel bad about taking money from those who are already on their payroll.

by the way, where is the PROOF that such fees make for SAFER, BETTER  DRIVERS? i'm still waiting to see that.
