2008 House Bill 6455 (Authorize “bad driver fees” installment plans )

Introduced in the House on September 11, 2008, to expand the installment payment plan provisions for individuals subject to the “driver responsibility fees” (“bad driver fees”) that are assessed for various violations and must be paid for two consecutive years. These very expensive fees were originally adopted in 2003 to raise revenue so as avoid spending cuts in that year’s and subsequent state government budgets. The bill would allow an individual whose license has already been suspendeed to be granted an installment plan, and allow installments on amounts less than $500

The vote was 106 in favor, 0 opposed and 4 not voting

(House Roll Call 789 at House Journal 80)

    Great

now instead of getting rid of these ridiculous, draconian and illegal fees you're going to be so nice as to let us serfs pay them back over time??? I can hardly wait for the next election. Don't care if you have a D or an R after your name, I'm voting for the non incumbant everytime. We need shorter term limits.

    Right on.

these fees make it harder to pay your fines and make insurance rates higher, insurance should be an option not a requirement,

    Thieving legislators...

Please do away with these onerous fines immediately. They do nothing to promote safety. They only rob more citizens of their hard-earned money.

    Thanks Lords!

We vassals are so appreciative of your generosity. Get rid of these onerous, "temporary" fines and do it now!
