    No to repealing Term Limits

How long and how often do the people of the State of Michigan have to battle our so-called public servants? The people petitioned, signed and voted for Term Limits. Are the people just peon's to those who get elected and reap the largess of serving in a corporate government office? We do not want career politician who soon enough become beholding to the masses of lobbyists in Lansing. We are also sick and tired of politicians constantly trying to undo what the PEOPLE voiced their vote to put in place. Until we see all our politicians in Michigan uphold their oath of office, adhere to the MI and U.S. Constitutions to the letter -- No to abolishing Term Limits!

NO, NO, A THOUSAND TIMES NO!!!! DO NOT REPEAL TERM LIMITS! If elected officials cannot do the job in the alloted term limits, they deserve to get out and let some new voices come in that will represent the taxpayers. This is public service, folks, not a lifetime careeron the gravy train.

Yes, Yes, A Thousand Times Yes

Get rid of this boondoggle. Michiganders were sold a bill of goods. The experiment flopped. Repeal term limits. Return the real power to elect candidates of their choice to the people.

    No Way!

We don't need career politicians feeding at the trough forever. We need more good guys that go in, try to fix it and then go back to the real world and earn a living.

"Until we see all our politicians in Michigan uphold their oath of office, adhere to the MI and U.S. Constitutions to the letter -- No to abolishing Term Limits" I Agree. Until such time as we can abolish the idiot vote with a poll test or get back to the constitution and only let property owners vote we are doomed to putting up with these twits. Term limits should be one term only and no jumping from one office to another. One term and back to the private sector. I don't think you would see them stomping all over private property rights and such if we did this.

    I agree

At the recent primary in our county, one of the candidates for district judge died a month before the election. Of course his name was still on the ballot. He received almost 5% of the vote, actually more than one of the living candidates for sheriff. We may not get a huge turnout at the polls but it's bigger than it should be. Ignorant people should not vote!

    Repeal Term Limits Now!

Return control over who represents them in the legislature to voters. Return control over who is chosen for government executive positions at the state level to voters. Term limits have been a disaster for Michigan. Repeal term limits!

Term Limits Have Been A Michigan Disaster

Look at the output of legislative sessions since term limits became the law. We go from bad to worse. What more evidence do you need in order to know that term limits have been a major Michigan boondoggle? Snake oil, sold to the voting public by the ultimate nanny-staters -- the kind who loath and fear the power of voters to choose their own representatives.

    I Also Agree

but you are counting on having an informed electorate, this is not the case here in michiganistan. If you change your name to coleman young you can get elected here. We need to get back to where only property owners vote, then you won't have so many twits getting elected just by promising to give away "free" stuff that they have stolen from the "evil rich" land owners.

    Term limits! What term limits?

There are many members serving in the Michigan State Senate who have been in the State legislature without interruption since 1997 and others since 1999. Check it out! The sponsor of this bill will have served 14 years in the house by the end of this upcoming term and is eligible to serve another 8 years in the Senate, totaling a whopping 22 years in the Legislature. What term limits? I have witnessed "termed-out" State Senators go to the House and termed-out house members go to the Senate, the later being more prevalent, in a defacto game of musical chairs. Term limits, what term limits?!

    Not One Promise Fulfilled

Shortly after term limits became the law of the land in Michigan in 1992, a statewide survey showed that voters (who overwhelmingly approved the term limits amendment to their State Constitution) expected this radical change would: - bring new ideas and people to state government, - cause politicians to do what is right rather than what is popular, - control interest group influence, and - keep politicians more in touch with the citizenry. None of which has happened. All of which has turned out to be pie in the sky. Term limits, in short, have accomplished nothing constructive in Michigan government. Term limits are a classic political boondoggle. The only thing the term limits amendment actually has done is exactly what critics of it predicted in 1992: It has undermined the people’s right to keep or oust elected public officials of their own choosing. Repeal term limits now. Return power to the voters.

Repeal term limits. Term limits are one of the great boondoggles in Michigan history. Return power over their representatives to the voters by getting rid of term limits.
