so why is the state concerned with where snowmobilers and A.T.V. riders go?
most of the land they ride on is PRIVATE land, ridden on with the permission of the landowner. the rest is public land, which the people who are riding ARE the landowner.
so, what is the business of the state in this matter?
truth is, it has none. stay out of it.

Re: 2008 House Bill 5640 (Allow certain ATV users on non-designated trail )
This rule would be unenforceable. People over 60 and disabled can get to the designated trails with their ATV's the same way as younger and able bodied people do, trailering them. If the disabled or older people are able to ride an ATV, I would think they are able to drive an automobile.

unenforceability is only one more facet that shows the folly of wasting legislative time and effort, not to mention the people's money on clap-trap such as this.

he happens to be right in this particular assessment of the human condition. many laws is how socialism thrives, few laws is how liberty prevails.
actually he was a british anarchist commenting on the new laws passed because of guy fawkes.

that takes nothing away from the fact that he was right about his assessment of the human condition. his politics are, as they say... not withstanding.
i didn't choose the saying because he was a socialist, but because he was right about those who call for too many laws, but hold themselves exempt from those laws.

Re: 2008 House Bill 5640 (Allow certain ATV users on non-designated trail )
Whether he was right or wrong is not important. What is important is your misuse of facts. Durrant was not an anarchist, he was a Socialist. He was not British, he was American, born in Mass..
The fact that you chose to use him to reinforce your point of view is very telling. You seem to think Socialist are in favor of more laws. Maybe you need to re-examine what socialism is, being as you have used a socialist as a reference. You might be surprised.
And maybe you need to be a bit more honest, or at least do the research, before making definitive statements. It's too easy nowdays to fact check.
In a nod to Sane and his crusade to stay on topic, we don't need this new ATV law. See the connection?

so, why are you going on about whether a man was a socialist or not. he simply commented about guy fawkes, and that comment was quoted. i think the comment is a correct assessment of the human condition. not a commentary on his politics, as you so adamantly assume.
i could care less about his politics, by the way, guy fawkes WAS british, he WAS an anarchist, and he tried to blow up parliament during the gunpowder treason and plot. he felt that the new laws he was protesting were not meant for the likes of him, but should be avenged anyway.
"remember, remember, the fifth of november, the gunpowder treason and plot..."

That is what you said.
You seem to be confusing Durrant with Fawkes. The "he" you say was a British anarchist can only refer to Durrant in your sentence, as you go on to say he was commenting on Fawkes.
Just trying to make sense out of your jumbled syntax.

Durant was an American Socialist, not a British anarchist.
Jury has reviewed evidence and returned a verdict.

Now kindly return to discussing 2008 HB 5640, which is moot

how typically michigander of you.
invite those you disagree with to leave. how gauche.
you are right, this bill IS uninforceable, but then again, most bills are. as a law, it could be used to close down trails and block access to public lands for recreational use. this will, of course, still leave private property owners the choice of whether or not to allow atv riders access, but you see how quickly private property owner's rights are slipping away, don't you?

why the contempt for cops?
got arrested once or twice?
got pulled over for nothing?
ex wife was a cop?
i have the utmost contempt for people who refuse to answer questions. the only logical reasons for not answering simple questions are either to keep from lying, or to hide ignorance.
in your case, i think it's both. perhaps you have roughed up your old lady once or three times, and been given the 'city tour' by the local cops.
now, before you start trying to say 'it's none of my business', then don't start the conversation if you don't want to answer questions on it.
the particulars of my company and what i do is classified, and will remain that way unless and until you procure my services. if you REALLY want to know, i'll provide you with the particulars as soon as your check clears.

Where have I ever expressed contempt for cops?

I have the utmost contempt for jackanapes who brag about things like providing "security solutions" to my state prison system, but who refuse to explain in concrete terms what that means, when asked to do so.
in your case, i think it's both. perhaps you have roughed up your old lady once or three times, and been given the 'city tour' by the local cops.
And that is a baseless, malicious libel.
now, before you start trying to say 'it's none of my business', then don't start the conversation if you don't want to answer questions on it.
You should heed your own advice. My personal life is none of your business unless I choose to make it so by spouting off about it here. Period.
the particulars of my company and what i do is classified, and will remain that way unless and until you procure my services. if you REALLY want to know, i'll provide you with the particulars as soon as your check clears.
That is utter, complete BS when you are asked to describe in simple, concrete terms what is meant by providing "security solutions" to the prison system in my state. This is exactly why I do not as a rule answer your questions nor believe much of what you say.

Oh no, I know you don't get mad that easily. I know that when you type in capitol letters your really not mad, just enthusiastic. I know your really a calm, collected guy, who just has a point of view, and is more than willing to listen to another's point of view. I know that when you insult people, your just expressing yourself in the only way you know how.
I understand.

who says i missed mardi gras?
getting mad is not my usual operation, getting YOU mad is entertainment. i type in capital letters to emphasize my point, not to express my emotions.
i do have a point of view, which i KNOW to be correct. (see how that works) i am willing to listen to other's point of view, sometimes. but not always. i don't have to listen to the point of view of those who oppose simply for the sport of opposition. in fact, i don't HAVE to listen to ANY other point of view. you can certainly have one, but it doesn't really matter to me. just as my point of view apparently doesn't matter to you.
what you haven't noticed is that i don't insult EVERYBODY as you do, just you, insane, and true/false.
there isn't anyone you HAVEN'T insulted. i insult because YOU DESERVE IT. not because i have nothing else to say and no point of view to express.
i could be here another four years, but fret not. this computer works from all over the world. i don't have to BE in michigan to post here, as true/false has proven time and again. as long as those who hire me here, both public and private, are paying the bills, and as long as the state of michigan is making it tough to do business here, i'll be here.
fix those problems, and i'll go away. not until.
