    2007 House Bill 5110 (Revise cigarette fire safety law )

    Introduced in the House on August 21, 2007, to impose fire safety and testing regulations on cigarette makers. The bill also establishes manufacturer safety certification fees

    The vote was 92 in favor, 16 opposed and 2 not voting

    Rep. Agema, having reserved the right to explain his protest against the passage of the bill, made the following statement: “Mr. Speaker and members of the House: While the intention of this bill is to try to save lives, the fact is it increases fines, fees and mandates all the while the companies are already moving towards this. This bill will require more government employees to enforce. Unnecessary law.”
