    why don't you want to

live next to 'white folk'? racist? prejudiced? bigoted? YES.

    So Where I

choose to live makes me a racist in your little world? You are a large part of the problem.

    when you

CHOOSE not to live somewhere based on the color of your neighbor's skin, YES. that's the way it works.

    racism, prejudice, and

bigotry are not purely WHITE vices. as the previous poster has shown, even blacks fall prey to racism, prejudice, and bigotry. it shows when they don't want to move in next to 'white folks'. how can you preach racial equality when you will not treat another race as an equal? how can you teach lack of prejudice when you practice prejudice? how can you tell your children not to accept bigotry when it happens to them, then show them how much of a bigot you are when you will not accept 'white folks' as your neighbors? YOU sir, are the problem. you refuse to give up YOUR prejudices, pre-conceptions, and bigotry and complain when others won't give up theirs. it has to be a two way street. we've been FORCED to give up ours. lay yours down now, it's over.

    thats the problem....

you say you've been FORCED to lay down yours...you didn't want to but were FORCED to right? Don't you think that this kind of statement is the reason some blacks do not want to live by you...because in their face you lay it down and in your heart the only reason you did is because someone forced you. Sad but at least honest. Moving out when blacks move in was and is still a common practice, so why now do you want blacks to just smile and accept you? Before you just tell someone to lay it down maybe you need to learn about their culture so you will understand why it isn't as easy as you make it seem. They were told and shown for years not to trust whites, they grouped together in their own communities cause noone else wanted them in theirs and some still don't but are FORCED to, and all of a sudden cause the white folks want them they should come running? Yes we should learn to cohabitate and some of us have, not because we were FORCED to but as humans because we WANT to, but we also should be considerate of each others history and culture and in the history programs today they are left out except for in Feb. why is that right? Were you taught about your ancestors history, here and abroad, my guess is yes, so what is the big deal about this? The big deal is that white america doesn't want to be FORCED to feel uncomfortable by learning about african american history, seeing lynched black males swinging from trees, does not want to be ACOOUNTABLE OR EVEN ACCEPT that it happend, and that despite all this there were African Americans who contributed to this country for years. Lay your uncomfortableness down and show other cultures that you are willing to learn and then maybe that bridge can be crossed.

    its history pal....

thats why it doesn't need to be forgotten or gotten over.

    maybe you ought to look

in the detroit news today and see the article on the new statistics on DWB and then ask why they don't want to.

    They have to legislate it...

because if not it won't BE included, how many years has it been and the textbooks have not been changed to accomadate.
  • 07-20-2007 1:01 PM In reply to

    but it doesn't

and the sad part about it is without legislation like this it never will precisely because of the viewpoints of people on here. Contrary to everyone's belief there is still a lot of work to be done on race relations in this country and that work requires understanding each other and our history.
  • 02-28-2008 8:19 PM In reply to

we do learn about everyone's history

Ok if you actually paid attention in history/western civilization/social studies you would realize that we did learn about all other races history. Rome,Italy,Egypt,Europe,Russia,Germany etc. all that is included in Western Civ. which emphasizes on every major battle and important person or persons of each era of that particular culture. Napolean,Alexander the Great,Resputin,Christopher Columbus, but you don't hear anything about our African Kings or Queens or explorers or inventors so it is right to be seperate its been that way for years why change now!

    it still goes on

first of all the media rarely and probably will never venture deep into the backwoods of the south where everything is "hush hush" i have family down south and they even say there are things you talk about and things you don't i wonder what those topics are about that you are not aloud to talk about cause of severe consequences not governed by our government
  • 02-28-2008 8:47 PM In reply to

    those things that

are not discussed in the south are USUALLY not discussed out of SHAME and COMMON DECENCY, not consequences. by the way, there have been more churches burned by white people in black neighborhoods in CHIGAGO in the last ten years than there have been in mississippi in the last hundred. let's hear it for yankee tolerance. there are more black people who kill black people in detroit and flint in a year than there are black people who kill anybody in three southern states. let's hear it for yankee justice. there are more black people in jail in michigan than there are people in jail between houston and pensacola. let's hear it for yankee race relations. michigan pays more per inmate per day than the ENTIRE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE NATION. let's hear it for the quality of michigan PUBLIC SERVICE. tell me again how great this place is...

michigan constitution,  article 1. Sec. 6.

Every person has a right to keep and bear arms for the defense of himself and the state.

     keep your powder dry.
