you say you've been FORCED to lay down yours...you didn't want to but were FORCED to right? Don't you think that this kind of statement is the reason some blacks do not want to live by you...because in their face you lay it down and in your heart the only reason you did is because someone forced you. Sad but at least honest. Moving out when blacks move in was and is still a common practice, so why now do you want blacks to just smile and accept you? Before you just tell someone to lay it down maybe you need to learn about their culture so you will understand why it isn't as easy as you make it seem. They were told and shown for years not to trust whites, they grouped together in their own communities cause noone else wanted them in theirs and some still don't but are FORCED to, and all of a sudden cause the white folks want them they should come running? Yes we should learn to cohabitate and some of us have, not because we were FORCED to but as humans because we WANT to, but we also should be considerate of each others history and culture and in the history programs today they are left out except for in Feb. why is that right? Were you taught about your ancestors history, here and abroad, my guess is yes, so what is the big deal about this? The big deal is that white america doesn't want to be FORCED to feel uncomfortable by learning about african american history, seeing lynched black males swinging from trees, does not want to be ACOOUNTABLE OR EVEN ACCEPT that it happend, and that despite all this there were African Americans who contributed to this country for years. Lay your uncomfortableness down and show other cultures that you are willing to learn and then maybe that bridge can be crossed.
