    Excellent

This is excellent. Because company's will not stop at smoking, if allowed to continue then it will be height and wieght or Body Mass Index, next genetic predisopistion to diseases. Then age, then looks, then skin color, then how your face is shaped. then how your buttocks are rounded! The list of corporate abuses will never stop unless this legslation passes.

    This Is A Good Idea

Legal off-work conduct that does not directly affect a person's ability to do his or her job is none of an employer's legitimate business.

    Bad idea

I agree that companies should not interfere with employee's private lives. However, government intervention in businesses is almost always a bad idea filled with unintended consequences. Employees are free to work for who they please. If my employer started telling me how to run my life I would find employment elsewhere. Business are not afforded the same choices, they must comply or they are destroyed. More regulation of businesses in Michigan is a bad idea.
