2007 House Bill 4641 (Authorize drain commission name change )

Introduced in the House on April 24, 2007, to allow counties to change the name of the Drain Commission office to the to “water resources commissioner,” if the drain commission is also tasked with operating sewers, lake level and soil erosion enforcement, and facilitating compliance with federal Clean Water Act mandates. The bill would also allow a county commission to increase the amount of the performance bond it may require the drain commissioner to post, from $5,000 to $100,000

The vote was 73 in favor, 31 opposed and 6 not voting

This bill allows drain commissioners to call themselves something they are not. Water resource commissioners? They don't preserve water resources, they manage drains! Other laws compel them to not pollute; the drain code is silent on that. What greenwash!
