    2007 Senate Bill 412 (Mercury regulation package )

    Introduced in the Senate on April 18, 2007, to require state agencies to avoid purchasing products containing mercury if viable alternatives are available and cost-effective

    The vote was 38 in favor, 0 opposed and 0 not voting

    No Mercury

    Will this override the federal mandate that we must switch to the new mercury containing lamp bulbs? Oh, I thought so.

    Now we get to watch one environmental group beat up another environmental group. What fun? The group that ostensibly wants to save energy will get creamed by the group that doesn't want the mercury buried in land fills. And if you break the little squirrely light bulb you'll probably have a hazmat team show up at your house. The government is just getting into every aspect of your life, aren't they now!

    It is important to note that the amount of mercury released by one bulb can exceed U.S. federal guidelines for chronic exposure!!

     I agree about CFls and mercury problem...

    I have written, with several research links, about why CFL mercury is a bigger problem than any coal power release:
