Just like the rest of your bullshit in here, your tax dollars have NOTHING to do with policing or building ANY Michigan ORV trail-----PERIOD!WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR BS FROM? The FACT of the matter is [something you know NOTHING about] is that these ORV trails are ''self supporting'' thru the sales of ORV STICKER monies.We do NOT use ONE PENNY of taxpayers dollars to support our sport. When an ORV user buys his/her ORV sticker for 16.25 each, this is the money that goes to build new trails and maintain exsisting ones,and this is the SAME money that is used to POLICE our sport. Next time you bleep out BS pal, make sure you know what the freak your talking about because we already suspected that you were a tree hugging jerk/idiot, and now, you removed all doubt.

You've got to be kidding me here. Why would ANYBODY believe one word that the DNR says here in Michigan? By legislation, the DNR was ''suppose to have'' a Southern ORV area for users put on the ground WAY BACK in 1996, and it still has'nt happened. These are the same crooks that ''found'' 10 million dollars in their bank account that they claim they were unaware of. These are the same crooks that virtually stole YOUR portion of the ORV safety education dollars to pay off their own improperly and often un-trained DNR/LEO personal to teach safety classes that they are not qualified to teach. Why ANYBODY would believe that the DNR will do ANYTHING they have in the new ORV Draft Plan, including adding access routes from trails into local municipalities for fuel/food/lodging,for the ORV user, is something you'll never convince this old veteran ORV user of. I've been playing ball in their park for TOOOOO MANY years now-----and the DNR cant even get to first base yet!

I am curious where this legislation stands? I have a cottage in Missaukee County and think it would be a greatly need financial shot in the arm if this would pass this summer. The small towns up here are hurting bad, having their towns accessible to ORV's could be the difference for an already dismal summer forcast for store/resturant owners. Does anyone know where Missaukee County stands on this and who should I contact??

Right now, this HB 4323 is sitting IDLE in the Senate Committee of Natural Resource and Enviromental Affairs Division and doing NOTHING. ALL of us in favor of HB 4323 need to contact this Committee's Chair person, Patricia Birkholz at senpbirkholz@senate.michigan.gov and let her KNOW that 400 TITLED Michigan ORV users and VOTERS across the State of Michigan DEMAND to know WHY her Committee has not yet voted on this Bill yet? We need a majority of favorable [3 of the 5 in this Committee] votes to take this Bill to the next level, which is the Senate Majority Leader, Mike Bishops Caucas, than they take a vote and if it is a favorable vote, it than goes to the Governor to be signed into law. Problem is? ALL this MUST take place THIS YEAR while these folks are still in their terms.. If this Bill sits IDLE and nothing happens this year, than we LOOSE and must start EVERYTHING all over again with our new represenatatives. EVERYBODY in favor of HB 4323 needs to get their letters out to Patty Birkholz and demand that her Committee do the job that we, the VOTING public, pay her to do, and RIGHT NOW!

I just sent my email to her. I also wrote Joel Sheltrown who responded with this: We hopefully anticipate approval by the Senate this month or in early June. The bill should be in effect by July. I do not know whether Missaukee County will adopt an ordinance. It has been discussed by that county in the past. FYI

No, I didn't flunk anything but in case you've been asleep for a couple of decades the government lackeys have been taking rights away for some time now. Didn't say i like it, just stating a fact. I never said that " your rights flow from government" I said that they are busy trying to take them. My car didn't come from a car thief but the thief likes to take it.

a very good idea. it will keep them from TRESPASSING, and VANDALIZING PRIVATE PROPERTY. but the opponents can't see that. it will also keep everyone CAREFUL about them being on the road. because you KNOW they are there, you have no excuse when you hit one.

Good luck on this one. I have sent her e-mail and the only response I have received is that she needs to contact my representative before responding. MY representative referred me to her. She is personally stone walling this bill. Unless she is too busy doing something else while she is drawing her pay. Her voting record shows 24 missed votes in 2007.

this bill does not deserve to emerge from committee. A bill that would allow non street-legal, off-road vehicles to run at will on public roads is irresponsible legislation that should die in committee, or if not, on the legislative floor.

The bill was reported out of committee today on a vote of 5-0 after being held up for 14 months. The Michigan Townships Association is now supporting the bill after Sheltrown agreed to let townships opt-out of a decision on the county level or write their own ordinance if the county refused. I'm guessing this wasn't a tough decision for him. Final step now is a vote in the full Senate and then the bill goes to Jenny G. for her autograph. It could be done by July 4 is Mike Bishop doesn't play any games!

The Senate still has time to do the right thing by either letting this bill die or rejecting it outright.

I'm very happy to learn that HB 4323 has passed the Senate on a vote of 30-7 and has been concurred in by the House! On to Governor Granholm for a signature! God Bless Michigan! The Legislature got this one right even though it took them far longer than it should have.

Let's hope that all our fellow riders exercise good judgement and realize that with this right comes responsibility to obey the laws that are established by the Townships. Then we can all enjoy this right for many years to come.

That our legislature lacks common sense and concern for the public good.

Why? Because the Legislature handed over control of ORVs on county roads to the counties, townships, cities and village in northern Michigan who will be directly affected by this new law rather than leave it in the hands of Lansing bureaucrats? Make your case to the locals up there that Lansing knows better than they do and see what kind of response you get.

This Bill NEVER should have taken this long to pass. I've been an avid responsable ORVer for over 40 years and am damn glad to see it pass. I was at the Senate meeting and was able to speak on behalf of supporting HB 4323 and am now glad that I can now laugh in the face of the enviro wacko's and their piss poor excuses for why HB 4323 would'nt be a good idea.. This bill does not become law until it is signed by the governor. The bill only authorizes counties to open their roads to ORVs. It does not automatically mean every road in northern Michigan is open to ORV traffic. So, yes, do learn and obey the law, and be good citizens while riding your ORV toys.

If you really were an old fashioned conservative, you'd be supporting the local control this bill provides for. It leaves the choice up to the locals in the north.

I'm supposed to be free yet I can't seem to use any of my toys. obviously there needs to be some restriction but not a complete lockdown. this is a good step forward to preserving our greatest liberties and the pursuit of happiness.

Pursuit of happiness is conditioned on the "freedom" to run around without restriction on an intrusive, obtrusive, destructive machine -- an ORV-ATV -- then I would have to say that one's priorities in life and value system are a tad screwed up.
