It's basic grammer. I looked last night for the breaks on my truck and couldn't find them. Maybe they are next to the brakes. And you think this guy should have power over the rest of us? You must be delusional. He couldn't pass the cop test if his life depended on it.

that motor carrier officers are NOT 'peace officers' in the first place. it's a waste of time and money to duplicate the efforts of one agency with another. if each were doing their jobs, instead of one doing the work, and the other trying to raise revenue, then we wouldn't be having this conversation, would we?

Actually, I am correct. Intelligence is not determined nor indicated by spelling or grammar skills. There are many highly intelligent people who are lousy spellers -- anyone ever heard of Thomas Edison, as one example? No one can deny that he was an intelligent person and, yet, he couldn't spell a lick.

so certify both so both can do the SAME JOB??? is it a waste of manpower to see TWO police cars at a minor accident? is it a waste of manpower to see TWO police cars sitting on the median with radar guns? if one has to "work extra" to "cover" the other, then both are not doing their job one way or the other. i understand that sometimes an officer needs 'backup', i did the job for a long time. but to have another angency do YOUR job because YOU are doing something else (raising revenue) is NOT what you were hired to do. i drove past many accidents this last year, with commercial officers "working the traffic" and less than a mile later, some trooper was sitting there, looking for someone to ticket. i could never have gotten away with this when i was 'on the job'.

but he hired someone who could. he also hired people to 'help' him invent. his patent forms were always filled out by qualified patent attorneys. your ticket isn't. his paychecks were always filled out by qualified accountants. your bill of particulars when you are arrested isn't. i know many police officers who can't spell. each and every one of them KNOWS how to use a dictionary. there are days when they don't care to, but they NEVER fail to when it's important.

Not all cops are out to write tickets.Most don't like writing tickets but are told that if they don't they will get a bad performance appraisal. Where I work they don't have time for ticket writing. They are too busy with complaints. I.E. CSC case, Fraud, ID theft B&E's. So that argument doesn't fly.

These are actually top pay, not starting pay. MCO's are level 10 and DNR and Troopers are level 11. MCO 11 is currently topped out at $24.21.

Thats why the MCO do it. If you give the MCO certification they too will no longer stop as many trucks...

Can someone explain what the MCD is doing assigning 40 Officers to the Border of Michigan? Is this for a special Grant? And why do they have to spend 1-2 hours in the office to verify the insurance for all the trucks they have stopped that day?

How many of the MCO's could even pass the MCOLES agility test? The guy that stopped me about 6 months ago was so fat I do not think he could walk a flight of stairs. By the way I was driving a Chevy 2500 pickup with a ladder in back. I was borrowing the ladder from a friend and was returning it to him. Speeding ticket for 72 in a 55 zone by cooper st. I just paid the ticket because I was guilty and thought it was a certified officer. Can someone tell me if he could do this or not?

Do you investigate a truck accident or do you INSPECT trucks involved in accidents??? Check with your HQ's, you will find many other agencies that have CVSA certified Officers.

I sure don't see a Trooper or a Deputy crawling under a smashed up truck to check the breaks. bill will certify him to investigate accidents AS WELL as inspect the truck. it will allow him to DO BOTH. thus duplicating the efforts of the state police officer that he USED to have to wait for.

Stop misleading the public? I believe it was those who wear dark blue shirts who made the decision to switch the MCO cars from light blue to dark blue. Now why did they do that? Because some person who wears brass on a dark blue shirt became tired of seeing light blue cars instead of dark blue on the highways? It is the general public who is being mislead and by who? One more thing trooper who ever you are,please keep this in mind. We MCO'S are not trying to do your job, nor do we want to do your job or replace you at a lower wage. MCO'S want to do the job they were originally trained to do. By being certified that does not give the MCO'S some huge payday as some would like to think. Reclassification would raise the MCO'S wage probably to that of a DNR officer. Also keep in mind the MCO'S are not seeking to be included in the the State Police Retirement Act. Try being honest with yourself about this bill and quit looking at it as a bill that will negatively impact you or the troopers association. This bill will simply allow MCO'S to better promote traffic safety through full enforcement authority. In the end everybody will benefit from this bill being passed.
