I know your figures for the inmates reoffending. Many of them are returned to prison because of parole technicalities not because they committed another crime. Community -based sanctions would work just as well and be alot cheaper.

I will say this one last time . Forget the twenty-seven million. If the reforms I mentioned were implimented there would be a savings of one million dollars. From that savings approximately thirty million dollars of that would be reinvested into these reforms.

First of all the two billion dollars is not just coming out of your pockets. You can blame any political party you want but the truth is when the get tough on crimes policies , which have failed big time and led to the mess we are in now, were enacted Engler a republician was in office. Michigan has very high utility and heating bills, is a blue- collar state, and also is a union state these are a few of the reasons for the higher costs. I made a mistake and said with the reforms we could save one million dollars and it should have read one billion dollars. So your two billion figures go down to one billion dollars. As for coddling inmates that is a bunch of bull.The bill we support would be one of the reforms. I still support it.

the biggest savings that could possibly be expected from releasing inmates amounts to twenty seven million dollars. period. no more, because there can be no more releases of inmates who are not violent and who haven't served the proper percentage of their time. so, that ends your hopes of saving the taxpayers of this state a BILLION dollars anytime soon.
