    School hours

I do not beleive that more hours are the answer to education. We are trying in the schools today to be all things to all people and missing the real mission of education. Lets try some creativity in education for a change. More hours more cost more waste. no not more hours more education during the hours that are now allowed.

    We dont need more hours

We need schools that understand their mission as educators, not social change agents. How about using in-school hours to actually teach phonics, REAL math, history and English and forget the wasted time and money on 'social issues', as decided by the socialst educational system? We should NOT be forced to pay for MORE of the same old drivel and watch our kids common sense and practical problem-solving be destroyed by amny mor 'group-think'!

    Re:more hours

We need to get back to ALLOWING teachers to teach and not force them to be the agents for social change. Teachers are not the ones stepping up and saying, "Let us take on that additional responsibility". These things are being thrust upon us. Schools are now responsible for: feeding kids, teaching them about sex, teaching them about healthy eating, teaching about drugs and alcohol, teaching about good/bad touch, and many other things that used to be the responsibility of parents, churches and social agencies. These things were thrust upon us -- we didn't volunteer.

    my niece just got

assigned a project in the 10th grade. it was to listen to the president's 'state of the union" address, and write a 500 word paper on the democrat's response. why not let the kids decide on which side they will do their report on?
