This is a mistake. It's difficult enough to take care of election day issues much less add another thing.

    It's easy

The key is getting a statewide computer database that is used via the internet when someone comes in to register with proper photo Id you enter in the name and see if they already voted every voter who is given a ballot is enter into the system so no one can vote fraudlently.I personally was quite shocked at the current system.I was never asked for ID or anything if I knew someone who didn't vote I could cast another ballot with there name and address.

    the problem is

that in michigan, you aren't asked for identification, you are simply asked to fill out a short form, sign it, and turn it in. i imagine that is in place to keep up with the 'Vote early-Vote often' mentality.

    when i came up

here from louisiana, i registered to vote and got a drivers license. the first election that came around, i stood in line with everyone else, but i was the only one with my license in my hand to prove who i was. yes, my name was "checked" against a list, but no one verified i was who i said i was. i could have looked on that list and came back later, filling out another form with that voter's name on it, and voted again. the problem with the internet data base is how many years is it going to take to put everyone into the database? the other problem is, how long is it going to take before some hacker figures out a way to hack into the system and add a few thousand votes to his favorite candidate? the southern states were once soundly criticized for doing exactly what michigan is doing now.

    Same-Day Voter Registration

Same-Day Voter Registration is beneficial for grassroots campaigns and maximum voter exposure. The only id that should be necessary is a name, current address, or utility bill. This would ensure that there are no barriers for maximum election day participation. Government probably fears this because more people would have access to the vote, making it harder to swing the vote in their favor on questionable issues.

    Same Day Register

I registered to vote when I was 21. (Yeah, that long ago).If you vote at least once every four years you never have to register again. To change the system to accommodate the slackers is ridiculous. People that always seem to find excuses for why they did not do something do not deserve to vote.

    maximum election day

penetration??? you mean maximizing the incidence of voter fraud? people today only vote for two reasons. 1. because they truly believe in the cause or the candiate. or 2. to get something in return for their vote. those in the first group already vote. those in the second group only vote when a candidate threatens to cut social security.

    VOTERS...

SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SHOW AN ID TO VOTE! AND THE OLD FASHIONED "PAPER VOTES" SHOULD BE MANDATORY! NO MORE ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES/CRAP! ALSO: IMPEACH BUSH!

those that don't support our president...

should be sent to the country they support. to side with the enemy should be cause for booting them right the hell out. these nutless whinners show no suppoet for the troops that are there to defend our FREEDOM (whats left of it). it's to bad that the media (left wing) doesn't show as much positive as the do negitive in iraq. the whole country is NOT in termoil. there are a few CITYS that are being controled by henchmen of the enemy. how would you feel if the city you lived in was controlled the same way ? you would hope that someone would come to free you from oppression. let's get this job over and bring those brave people home.

    Along with same day registration,

why not just fill in the ballot, too. Then hand them vouchers for a week's worth of meals, refer them to an illegal document maker and then, if old enough, give them the address to the nearest Social Security Administration office where they can immediately file for full benefits!

    Better Idea!

How about a poll test? Some thing easy, like how many states are there, or Who was the last president? You pass, you vote. You flunk, see you in four years. We have too many people that are totally uninformed voting now, we don't need more. I read an article yesterday that a poll was done after the election and 10 or 15% of the people that just voted thought that they did a good thing by voting Devos out of office since he screwed up the last four years. With idiots voting, we are doomed.
  • 01-16-2007 10:47 AM In reply to

    poll tests are

unconstitutional, remember? they had them in the south, and the libs thought that they weren't such a hot idea. our problem here is that even those that CAN read and write are STILL uninformed/unconcerned. you can't make somebody give a damn.

    how is election

day voter registration supposed to get michigan out of the financial and educational slump it's been in since the democrats took over?
  • 01-16-2007 11:36 AM In reply to

    It Won't

it will just get more of them elected so that they can continue the downward spiral of Michiganistan.
  • 01-16-2007 11:45 AM In reply to

    so, when

do we start calling the libs liars for foisting the "we will make michigan better" lie upon us? when do we start to hold THEM responsible for the mess we are in, they HAVE had four years to "clean it up" and have done NOTHING. when do we start demanding that the promises be fulfilled, and soon? when? i say thirty seconds after the election results became final was WAY TOO LATE.
  • 01-16-2007 11:50 AM In reply to

    It Will Never Happen Because

the libs/dems/socialists control the vast majority of the media in this state and country. The sheeple never get past the headlines and believe every word of it. We are probably screwed. Socialism is coming.

  • 01-17-2007 7:07 AM In reply to

    Hey....

it works for the dems/socialists. Maybe we should make it easy enough for a toddler to vote. Maybe Fisher Price could get into the voting machine business. Just hit Bert or Ernie to vote. This makes as much sense as how we do it today.

    Stop it Jenny..

This is what we have to look forward to now that the public school educated voters put her in again. This is Jennifer Granholm at her best. Heads Up, Michigan will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers overtime. There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 6 main intersections and highways. I-75 North and South I-94 (From Ann Arbor to Port Huron) [Entire length of I-696] I-275 North and South M-10 Lodge Fwy I-96 from Detroit West to M-14 Now, 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time. If you work anywhere in the Detroit Metropolitan area, you must take one of these interstate, routes, or parkways. Wear your seat belt, nothing hanging from the rear view mirror, do the speed limit (not a mile over) use cruise control if you have it, no cracks in your windshield, use your turn signals

so,follow the law? a great sacrifice lol

lol deal with it suck it up
  • 01-17-2007 1:36 PM In reply to

    i've heard

volumes about obeying the law on this site when it comes to something that michiganders agree with, and the words "suck it up" when some don't. i don't agree with the "random" methods that the police departments use to try to raise revenue, as opposed to ENFORCING THE LAW. when revenue enhancement becomes the prime motivating factor in law enforcement, justice cannot be found.

    Reply - I've Heard

You've got it. Michigan's two-hundredths percent blood/alcohol content threshold for the presumption of impaired driving has no practical bearing on actual impairment...but that's now the standard in Michigan. The highway speed limits that "Great Sacrifice LOL" expects you to obey were determined at a time when vehicle drive train, tire, brake, steering and suspension systems were relatively archaic -- at least by comparison to modern cars, light trucks and motorcycles. In fact, I just returned from a visit to metro-Detroit. I think that Great Sacrifice LOL is nuts with his just-obey-the-law comment. From what I observed, if you're not speeding on the interstates through town, you're at risk for being rear-ended. "Speeding," per se, is not nearly as great a risk factor as disparity of speed. If safety is the concern, limits on highways and interstates should be reviewed and updated so people aren't becoming road hazards while trying to obey them. They won't be updated. Instead, they'll run commercials with some state rep in a Smokey Bear to blather on about current enforcement efforts and justify the arbitrary (arbitrarily low) limits. I agree with I've Heard. Many times the law seems to exist for the purpose of creating criminals. Jim Arvada, CO
