    when

nobody cared if a student brought a "weapon" to school, there were no 'columbines'. in the days when students stacked their rifles and shotguns in the corner, in order to go hunting on the way to/from school, there were no 'massacres'. in the days when every student, even the girls carried a sharp pocket knife to school, and used it to sharpen pencils, clean fingernails, and whittle toys and whistles, there were no 'random acts of violence'. in the days when 'a good paddling' was not only accepted, but practiced whenever necessary, there were no problems with 'disrespectful students'. in the days when two kids fighting was just two kids fighting, there were no problems with 'rampant bullying'. in the days when teachers got invited to supper on a regular basis, there were no problems understanding why "little johnnie" is not doing well in math. the system was WORKING. why did we let the bleeding hearts change it?

    You forget

that those were also the days when parents were involved in raising their children, not just in creating them. Those were also the days in which it was unacceptable to have even one child out of wedlock, even less so child after child after child with multiple partners as is so common today. Those were also the days in which people knew that God was a deity and not a swear word. Unfortunately, in today's society, people are only interested in their own pleasure and wants and unfortunately have no clue about the meaning of personal responsibility, honor, respect, etc.

    you are right...

let's start "respecting" the parent's right to paddle the little miscreant's behind, in front of the entire class, and see how long these problems last. it seems a good start to me.

    Huh?

And just what would a vote for DeVos do to solve the above issue? Nothing!
