    Right on!

Let's change that magic number to 60 rather than 80. Let's also DECREASE rather than increase those lucrative pension benefits. Maybe this will open the door for new employees who actually want to work--rather than the slackers we have there now! I have to work with them on almost a daily basis--something I dread each time I pick up the phone. But I can't always contact someone. Another holiday, s/he's on break, didn't come in today, etc. How about it, union? As a business owner, I'm pretty tired of them hiding behind your skirts!

    What a CROCK!!!!!!!

Most state employees are 90% retired when they work. Why not draw their pensions while they are still 'working'? Taxpayers please wake up, before it's too late.

    Keep them working

We retirees from the private sector are having our bennifits reduced and you want to take more of the publics money and increase the government employees benefits. Don't you people live in the same world?

It's amazing how many people run at the mouth without knowing any thing. The state employee pension fund is already there - something the state employee's have paid into the entire time they have worked. It is currently in very good status and has enough money to support any early retirement plan that comes along. 30% of state employee's will be eligible for retirement within three years anyway. Reducing the work force will save tax payer's money - not cost them. New employee's are paid less per hour and also do not have the same benifit's. New employee's do not have a pension - only a 401K plan that cost's the state much less in matching funds than the state's payment into the pension fund for older end employee's. It would also help the state's economy by providing new jobs for younger people who are looking for job's now. Not all positions would be filled so the state government would shrink not grow. As far as accusing all state workers of not working, well that doesn't even deserve a reply. Ask a state police officer how hard they work the next time you break down on the highway. I am sure they will tell you. Start thinking about all the services you take for granted that the state government provides for you and then decide what one's you want to do without. Then run your mouth about what state workers do or don't do - but first get your facts straight. As far as what private citizens are losing in their pensions well I guess you should have gone to work for the state - but of course that means having the intelligence to pass the test for the job or being smart enough to have a degree.

    Say What?

"Then run your mouth about what state workers do or don't do - but first get your facts straight. As far as what private citizens are losing in their pensions well I guess you should have gone to work for the state" The real workers can only support so much dead weight. Maybe you should try the real world. Okay Mr. Genius State Employee, Who the heck do you think pays for you and all your bloated benefits? What exactly does the state produce or sell to make money to pay you? What is the profit margin in this imaginary state business? We pay you Mr. Rocket Scientist. It's OUR MONEY that you take every week. You get OUR MONEY because the state forcibly removes it from OUR POCKETS. " Ask a state police officer how hard they work the next time you break down on the highway." Try to flag down a state cop the next time you break down..lotsa luck. They will turn their head as they go by. The only way you will interact with them is if you speed or do some other no no that the nanny state has determined qualifies you to provide MORE FUNDING for overpaid twits in the government employ. "Start thinking about all the services you take for granted that the state government provides for you" The state provides us with NOTHING! We pay for all services with OUR MONEY! I think that you need to go back to school and take econ 101 except that the government schools won't teach you anything about how they can only spend OUR MONEY! Thats all they have. It's all OUR MONEY!

Michigan Teachers have an 80 and out bill with @ least 30 years of service. Why can't all state employees have the same thing. ie. Mental Health, and other Health Care facilities?
