    Fastest Tax Increase

    If you want to help the citizens of Michigan with the high cost of gasoline, why not make the gas tax more in line with other states? We are amoung the top ten highest gas tax rates in the nation. We pay 52.4 cents a gallon. Missouri pays 36 cents a gallon. Why can't we drop our tax rate to their level?

    Gas Tax

    The oil companies drill for oil, refine that oil, ship that oil, explore for new oil and clear about 18 cents a gallon. The black hole of government does NOTHING and makes about 55 cents a gallon. Who's gouging who?

    a lot of that oil belongs to the american tax payers, it came from public land. what about all the roads and highways the government builds for the oil companies to use to get to that oil and extract it.

    the roads the government

    what about the roads the "government" builds? they're built with OUR money. taken from us BY FORCE using taxation. maybe if some of the taxes were taken off of fuel, then it wouldn't be 3.15 a gallon for regular.

    public land

    all the drilling on "public land" is done on leased ground, that means the government gets money from the oil companies to drill there. they have to lease the land to drill, and transport the resource, whether it be oil, or natural gas. by the way, the VAST majority of drilling on "public land" is done for natural gas.
