    HB 5903

Introduced by Hoogendyk, co-sponor by Gosslein Some far right folks have said it's their single-minded mission to destroy the public schools. I can't say that's the motives of Hoogendyk, and co-sponsors, but it wil reduce funding for schools.

    12th only

Keep in mind the the more adult world of college and restict it to 12th grade. That way, therte will be less incidence of those under 18 having sex with those over 19. 11th grades would be prey for some. It's not just about education, it's about a new world of socialization.

    Early College vs Dual Enrollment

The legislation has a merit that might better and more efficiently be addressed by reducing the current barriers in PA 160 or 1996. The NCLB Act will still require tracking by the students school district and the new High School Graduation Requirements will get mired in the transition, high school diploma et al. Why complicate a good practice that has been under used and mis-interpreted. These complications may be avoided by enableling the present postsecondary enrollment act to address early college.

    Funding??

Funding for gifted education in Michigan has been cut 90% in the past 4 years, sacrificed on the altar of general education. Dual enrollment helps, but the students still have to exhaust local options first. Since we're not supplying anything for gifted students in HS, why not let them move on to college? These kids are going to be creating jobs. Let's help them succeed.

    It Sounds Like...

you want them to be part of the "evil rich" that create all the jobs, pay most of the tax bill and invent stuff that makes all our lives easier. How dare you. Socialism is about dragging everyone down to the lowest common denominator, you should know this by now. If all the kids got smart, who would vote for the democrats?
