Now when you sign your kid up for the local hockey team and he gets hurt the local prosecutor can arrest you for child abuse. This ought make lots more money for the imperial state government.

The foster care system is totally dysfunctional! Why! Because you cannot spank. It will always be dyfunctional until foster parents are allowed to use appropriate corporal punishment. With this bill your parental rights are now going to be assualted. You better write your legislators to kill this bill. Now if you spank your child for being mouthy and disrespctful YOU GO TO JAIL! You have a misdemenor or felony entry on your record!

...and you will discover that there is an exception for (and I forget the exact wording) appropriate and reasonable discipline including the use of force. That means that if your child needs a spanking, you can give him one without fear of the law. I do believe that this bill is a bit silly because now you can be charged just for doing something that is likely to cause harm even if none is done. If we want to take it to extremes, you could possibly be charged for smoking around your children because that may cause them harm. How about letting them climb trees? That could cause harm.
