    2005 House Bill 5336 (Create state health information technology commission )

    Introduced in the House on October 19, 2005, to create a state health information technology commission to develop a community-based health information network for communication of patient clinical and financial information. This would be designed to promote more efficient and effective communication among multiple health care providers, including hospitals, physicians, payers, employers, pharmacies, laboratories, etc.; eliminate redundancy in data capture and storage and reducing administrative, billing, and data collection costs; provide reliable information to health care consumers and purchasers regarding the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care, health plans, and health care providers; and ensure the confidentiality of protected health information, including patient identifiers

    The vote was 102 in favor, 2 opposed and 4 not voting
