Dems, Reps, Bush, and Jennifer
I am not a Democrat or a Republican. I vote for the individual, not the party, that best suits my intrests. Democrats want to put all the blame on Bush, and the Republicans want to put all the blame on Granholm. The truth is THEY'RE BOTH RIGHT! Both of these idiots are the one-two punch that's killing this state. Democrats- like it or not, Bush is the president. He is a stubborn, bull-headed idiot, but he is the President. And the only way he is going to deal with a Democrat is if you have a moderate to conservative Democrat. There is no chance in Hell that he is going to lift a finger to help a radical left-wing extremist like Granholm. Granholm, on the other hand, is no different than Bush other than which side of the political arena she happens to be sitting on. She is sitting behind the left goalie, Bush behind the right, and the best viewpoint is center ice! She is just as unwilling to work with the Republicans as Bush is with the Democrats. And who suffers for it, WE ALL DO!
Example. Louisiana's governor is a carbon-copy of Granholm. Granholm vetoed the "freedom of choice" bill, Blanco signed the bill to end freedom of choice in Louisiana. In fact, after Katrina, Time magazine voted her "America's worst governor", Granholm came in 2nd. Her and Granholm are both left-wing extremists, both totally unwilling to work with Republicans. Look at what happened in New Orleans. Bush offered to help, she refused to work with him and what happened, the people of New Orleans suffered for it. Bush is also to blame. A president has the authority to go over a state governor. But that's exactly what's going on here. In Lousiana it was an act of nature, in Michigan it's the economy. They are both unwilling to work with one another, so WE are screwed! Hopefully the next President and governor, reguardless of party, will not be playing these ridiculous games and be willing to work together to better our situation. Hopefully!

""loose cannon opponent""
Are you nuts? I guess in libville that fiscal responsibility, lower taxes and less government intrusion and theft are bad things. If you like taxes then send in some extra, they'll take it. Heck, get all your socialist friends to send in a couple thousand each and see what happens.

reply to no helmet no brain
I am not going to call you any names. I am even willing to agree that all it takes is one time reguardless of experience. But you are under the illusion that wearing a helmet is somehow going to magicly save everything. That is that is the non-riding publics general opinion. That's what they have been trained to believe. But the fact of the matter is that just isn't the case. Statistics from the 30 states that allow choice proove that. Unfortunately most people don't know that, but it's true. Think about it, the very fact the majority of states allow choice should be proof enough that helmets and helmet laws are ineffective. The fact is that a motorcycle accident is so tramatic no helmet, body armour, or any safety gear can save you. For example, if you went skydiving and your parachute didn't open, is it going to make any difference wheather or not you are wearing a helmet when you hit the ground? Of course not. This law was put in place for two reasons. One, being forced to wear a helmet discourages people from riding motorcycles. Two, it makes those who have never riden a motorcycle feel good. That's it. It is feel good law that creates a false sense of security and accomplishes nothing!
What is the answer? Simple, rider education and car driver awareness of motorcycles. Will that prevent all motorcycle accidents and fatalities completely? Of course not, but it will keep it to a minimum. Motorcycle accidents and fatalities have been up on a nationwide level, in helmet and choice states alike. I personally blame cell phone usage and distracted driving, the timeline fits. However in all of our neighboring helmet-choice states it has only gone up 10-15% compared to 65% here with a helmet law. And the reason is they have better rider education and motorcycle awareness progams than we do. Not to mention all of our neighboring helmet-choice states are aslo at-fault states as to where we are a no-fault state. Not only are we a no-fault state, but Michigan was the first state to create no-fault. That is why our rates are twice as expensive as our neigboring states. The insurance lobby has had a choke-hold on this state for a long time now. That is why the insurance companies get away with spoonfeeding the general public as well as those in Lansing anti-choice propaganda. They claim rates will go up if choice is allowed. But we know that isn't true judging by our neighbors rates. They cost more because lobbyists cost a lot of money. In short we pay for their lobbyists to take our freedoms away by charging us an obscene amount for insurance! And wheather or not you can handle it, THAT'S THE TRUTH!!!

cautious and conservative?
to cast a vote for the candidate who lied to the public on numerous occasions, then fired police officers and released criminals?
i'm sorry, but you can't label that conservative under any light.
admit it, the liberals are the ones who got us here, and they are the ones who will KEEP us here.

don't distort what i said ...
i said that that in the last election a vote for Granholm was not an especially good choice, but given the loose cannon behavior of neocons -- of which her opponent was one -- voters were conservative and cautious and went for a KNOWN QUANTITY. they were bound to get burned no matter what.

"loose cannon" who believes in LOWERING TAXES, LESS GOVERNMENT, AND THE RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE than the 'known quantity' that DOESN'T.
by the way, what's so wrong with a "loose cannon". bill clinton was one, harry truman was one, abraham lincoln was one too.
all of their opponents have listed them as 'loose cannons'.
so you are telling me that the ENTIRE ELECTORATE of michigan thought that JENNIE was the best choice in the last election???
she certainly hasn't lived up to a SINGLE PROMISE, except to raise our taxes.
in five years, she hasn't "improved" one single thing.
she better get it in gear, she has less than three years left to do all these wonders.
considering that she seems to have NO CLUE how she's going to do it, and hasn't even started PLANNING for a clue, i DON'T THINK she's going to get it done.
if she even bothers to try...

Cautious and conservative 2
Um, what ?!
How is re-electing a proven loser either cautious or conservative? Granholm has been the worst governor in this states history before she was re-elected. Now that she is in her last term and cannot be re-elected again, therefore having nothing to lose, do you honestly think the next four years are going to be better?! If so, I'd like to sell you my ocean front property in Kansas!

Nobody says that a helmet will save your life in a high speed accident, many bikers are killed by internal injuries and bleeding, the helmet is meant to protect your head from blunt force trauma it what may be a survivable accident. The death of an adult by severe head trauma caused by chosing to not wear a helmet isn't the real issue. I support your right to not wear a helmet, I jsut don't want to support you via social security and medicaid when you are a vegatable. I beleive that once you turn 18, If you drive a car without wearing a seatbelt or ride a motorcycle without a helmet that you sign a release of liability and release of claim against any local, state or federal agencies. If two medical professionals determine and certify that your disability could have been reduced or elimintated by the proper use of DOT approved helmet or seatbelts then your are not entitled to collect or apply for SSI, SSDI, Medicaid or any other tax supported system. And before your say what about sports injuries, everytime my son plays football I ahve to sign a waiver that says I wont sue the school, he knows that ramming helmet first is a prohibited activity and that he is never allowed on the field without a helmet. As a matter of fact our local school district has certified helmet fitters that are the only people allowed to fit the helmets.
If you want to assume the risk then great, if you wear a helmet that is DOT or SNELL approved and it fails to protect you, then sue the manufacturer. But if as a consenting adult over 18 chose to particpate in an activity that is dangourous without the aviliable safety equiptment then great, go for it, if its using a saw without safety glasses or riding a motorcycle without a helmet, boots, long pants and eye protection be a true rebel biker, sign the waiver and don't take "The Mans" money, free wheelchair, free van with ramp, maybe your Biker Bros will haul you around in a sidecar and push your wheelchair around, let your Bros have a poker run to pay your medical bill, build a ramp at your house and support your family, jsut don't ask me to do it with my tax money.
