    maybe if you

answered the questions instead of constantly dodging them, you wouldn't get so many 'flames'. questions are healthy, they are good for you. you may even find that others agree with you, instead of 'flameing' you.

NAZI TACTICS !!! the state police of this sorry state are now..

going to stop motrocyclists to check thier helmets. seems they don't like the fact that some are wearing "NOVELTY HELMETS". the problem started way back in 1969 when the state police were charged with keeping a list of "APPROVED" helmets. THEY NEVER DID !!! and still don't. so how are you supposed to know which is APPROVED and which is not. the state police adopted the requirements by NTSHA. hey wait, NTSHA doesn't test or approve helmets. even the manufactures don't approve helmets. they just make them to specs set by the government. so which is an approved helmet and how do i know unless it is tested ???? once it is tested, WHO IS GIONG TO WEAR IT ??? surely it is going to be damaged. the fact that the state of michiganistan is hurting for money so bad that they are now going to start hassleing people that live and work here. it's not bad enough that we are taxed to death. now lets go after the bikers. A HELMET IS A HELMET. plain and simple. if you morons with the little red bubble on your car are so concerned about OUR SAFETY, why don't you get off your ass and do what you were charged with in 1969. do your fricking job. GIVE US A LIST OF APPROVED HELMETS SO WE WON'T BE ILLEAGAL. GIVE US A LIST OF HELMETS THAT WILL SAVE US FROM HARM. AREN'T YOU SUPPOSED TO "SERVE AND PROTECT" ? no wonder people are leaving this sorry state, and, no wonder no one wants to come here for vacation. the attitude of the powers that be in lansing ought to get thier head out of thier ass and start making michiganistan a place that people want to come to. quit taxing everybody to death. quit making busniesses so hard to survive. i never knew a country that could be taxed into prosperity !!!!

    A big, hot ......

steamy load of crap, isn't it ? I had read this is one of her ways to generate a little revenue to make up for her numerous failures at everything else. Let's see.....now even Comerica is getting the hell out of here with everyone else who is lucky enough to have that option, so let's squeeze some more out of the poor saps that are stuck here. Oh yeah...and let's give all those poor, poor, auto workers an education at the taxpayer's expense too. Then they can take their new skill/trade, and move out of here with all the other lucky people...We should all go on welfare; with her stupid set-up, we can collect it till we go the grave. Way to go Grand-hole.

she had a "TOWN HALL METTING" on channel 8, grand rapids.

i missed it. dam. i wanted to listen to the same blah, blah. oh well, they will have hi-lights on the news in the a.m.. the state police have had thier driving time cut by 20%. now they sit in the medien with radar to catch speeders. hell, anybody with a c.b. can find out where they are. i do it every day. yes, i still have a c.b. and i haven't had a ticket in years. why haven't the state police been held accountable for not doing thier job. they were supposed to keep a list of approved helmets. they dodged it. yet they can now stop us and check our helmets to see if they are "APPROVED". do i smell something funny? how much longer is this state going to keep screwing up. just think....today checking helmets, tomorrow, to see if you flossed !! never put it passed the state of michiganistan....

    Check out what this website...

This seems proof that MI is gaining steam in the fight AGAINST bikers. Jenny must have approved the money to spend for the MSP course to learn how to pull over and check out our helmets. Ooooo...we're such a threat to society. Wouldn't this time and money spent be better off to fight REAL crime ???????? www.michigan.gov/msp/0,1607,7-123--154932--,00.html

this is the problem, she is NOT my mommy.

at fifty seven years old i don't need her telling me whats good for me. i have done very well on my own with the decisions i've made. she wasn't around then so how could i have secceded? we don't need government to make decisions for us. least of all someone that knpws NOTHING about motorcycling. motorcycling uses less fuel, takes up less space on road ways, is easier to manuver, and with EDUCATION is a lot safer than a one TON car or a TWO AND A HALF TON TRUCK. helmets are only good to 13 - 17 mph. if you don't believe me check out the stats. when was the last time you saw a biker going that speed ? after that speed it's the neck and spine that pay the price. more over it is blunt trauma to the torso that KILLS. so now we have to waer BODY ARMOR ? educating the public about sharing the road is the best solution. but, that would be to easy. it's not enough of a money maker. neither is keeping this optrusive law in place. our surounding states have NO helmet law. they bring in more motorcycle related revenue than michiganistan. they have fewer motorcycle deaths and injurys because they educate instead of ledgislate. just putting a helmet on someone and sending then out on the road is just PLAIN WRONG. the four wheel public thinks that because that motorcyclist has a HELMet on they are invinceable. WRONG AGAIN . all you doctors, nurses, and medical staff should be screaming for MORE EDUCATION !!!! not for a useless peice of plastic that is only good to 17 mph. that feel good theory has already killed many people. before you do your knee-jerk reaction, study the helmet section in the NTSHA website. you WILL have a change of heart.

wow, eight days and no one has said..

a thing. must be everone has finally got it. or they went to the NTHSA site and found out that the helmet is NOT the answer. to bad jenny didn't. she also didn't read the thousands of letters and cards that were sent to her. this again is a DICTATOR not a GOVERNOR. not listening to the house and senate thru which the PEOPLE HAD SPOKEN. we are about to start another riding season in michiganistan. i wonder how many bikers are going to be slaughtered by those car and truck drivers with thier HEAD IN THIER ASS. driving with thier cell phone stuck to thier heads. putting on thier make-up. READING THE PAPER OR BOOK. but i guess it doesn't matter, we have a helmet law in michiganistan. and that my friends will save us all from harm. anyone disagree ?????

    Well.......

For what it matters, I'm still here with ya. I check every day to see what dumb ass comments are made in defending the helmet law, or our gov. Grand-mole. Maybe no one is saying anything because they are too busy packing to leave, or are out looking for pop bottles and cans since they lost their job. I'm still in disbelief she passed up all that revenue by vetoing our bill, and now we are looking down the barrel of even more taxes to come our way. It's like living in a bad dream.

I read this presentation, and I am not surprised, and accept the facts set forth in the note, but I would love to have the same facts set forth with the scientific literature cited for each fact. The author has obviously researched the scientific material as he cites very specifically to the results. It appears obvious that he had the studies in front of him as he was writing the note. I personally would love to have the opportunity to review the underlying studies, and if each fact were to be followed by the pertinent citations it might also provide persuasive rebuttal to the written presentations made by the insurance industry and physicians organization "experts" who seem always to lurk in the halls eager to testify at every legislative hearing. bikeraccsurvivor bikeraccsurvivor@bacsuv.com www.bacsuv.com

five days and no comment. unbelieveable. not..

even from any bikers. are you giving up ??? are you letting jenny have her way at your expense of FREEDOM OF CHOICE. millions of dollars are going to go away this summer. millions of dollars that michiganistan could use to balance the budget. all from riders from OUT OF STATE. HELLO.....FROM OUT OF STATE. that means it isn't money from anyone that lives here. IT IS CALLED ..TOURISM DOLLARS. what does michiganistan depend on every year for $$$? sorry you all flunked the test. it's not things manufactured in state draining detroit. it is tourism . i'm so sick of hearing jenny tell us that it's john englers fault...please, quit milking it. admit that the last four years you screwed up, and the next four years are going to be the same. someone that doesn't understand busniess or how it works is our governor again. so what will be the next step ? watch your property taxes, and now the taxes on hair cuts (buy your own clippers and scissors), gas, cigarettes, alcohol. when does it end?

    Helmet law

Based on the content of the exchange concerning this bill, the bill should pass. The helmets would obviously not be protecting anything.
  • 03-26-2007 7:33 PM In reply to

    average person

I don't understand why you people who want to mandate helmet laws don't just advocate the banning of all motorcycles period. That would be a heck of a lot safer, don't you think? That would end all motorcycle related deaths. Insurance policies would plummet!
  • 03-27-2007 5:00 PM In reply to

    Gee....

Isn't that a clever response. How long did you have to think before you came up with that one?
  • 03-27-2007 5:07 PM In reply to

    Well........

I will go along with that just as soon as they ban walking also. There are more pedestrian fatalities per year than there are motorcycle fatalities. Let's also stop the use of electricity.....it's just too dangerous...people are electricuted almost every day. With your take on things, you'd be happy if everyone lived in a nice, safe, little bubble.

HELL NO !!! IT DOESN"T EFFECT THEM> this sorry state is along time comming back. to bad it used to be great...

QUESTION AUTHORITY !!!!!!! DAILY !!! those that don't, will find out to late. government unchecked ???? will be after YOUR check. ASK JENNY !!!
  • 03-29-2007 7:00 AM In reply to

    i don't question

or criticize people who stand up and fight for their rights. i have no use for whiners, though. the motorcycle helmet legislation that people keep yapping about here is old news -- a 2005 bill -- that never bvecame law. bikers should quit whining here about how put upon they are. that does no good. it's tiresome. it's just being a crybaby. it's time to start communicating, like grownups, with people who can affect the outcome of your issue. that means contacting your legislators.
  • 03-29-2007 5:02 PM In reply to

I don't think you get it.

Whiners ??? Crybabies ?? The true people this bill would have affected, (bikers), are venting a lot of frustration here. We DID contact the right people, and we DO fight for our rights concerning this matter. If it is tiresome or boring to you, go find another bill to follow. In all reality, this bill was a done deal. It went through the house, and senate, and was PASSED, only to have our mommy Grand-mole veto it. And it IS NOT old news, because we are not going to give up. We've put up with a lot more crap than you, so get used to us being here.

    poor babies 2

"The true people this bill would have affected, (bikers), are venting a lot of frustration here. " by ceaselessly and ineffectively whining about a 2005 bill that didn't have enough support in the legislature to overturn the veto it received. "And it IS NOT old news, because we are not going to give up. We've put up with a lot more crap than you, so get used to us being here." 2005-2006 legislative bills like this one are OLD NEWS no matter how you cut it. over and done with. time to move on and move ahead. we now are in a new session. get over your disappointment. go out and do something positive for your cause. you have no idea how much "crap" I've put up with in my life. if the worst you've had to put up with is the inconvenience of being required to wear a helmet while riding your motorcycle, count yourself lucky. and i am very used to your "being here" whining endlessly about how put-upon you are. that's why i decided to tell you that behaving like a crybaby gets you nowhere.

    RE: Crybabies2

I read the last few comments here, and thought I'd jump in with a question or two for you. If this is old news, old bill, etc...why are you here reading it ? Obviously these folks are passionate about how they feel about this. In all honesty, if they bother you that much, and you don't care , or don't ride, why do you spend any of your time here? Like it or not, this is the most read link on "Michigan Votes" site. That in itself should get some people's attention higher up in the food chain.

    excellent post!

I have not been on this site since the election and this is still, like you said, a very hot topic. A bill for this new 2007-08 session should be introduced soon. The only obsticle at this point is Granholm. I still cannot believe she actually got re-elected. How embarrasing!!!

    Helmets

Hey suppressed, good to see you're still fighting the good fight...I read that link that somebody posted linking to the mi.gov site about what helmets are considered novelty and which will pass, read approved helmets. Basically in Michigan it seems as long as the helmet is DOT approved and has that little sticker then its an approved helmet for michigan...I still don't wanna get pulled over for that though, but I wear a full face helmet anyways...just got a new one in fact, clear outside shield with an internal flip down dark shield...its pretty cool
  • 04-02-2007 6:08 PM In reply to

hi joe, sounds like a nice helmet. but, you should..

be able to wear it when YOU feel you should. NOT BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT SAY'S SO. it' is not the governments busniess telling you what to WEAR. the state police have enough to do without having to stop us to check our helmet. BETTER YET GIVE US THE LIST OF APPROVED HELMETS SO WE CAN BE SAFER. THATS THIER JOB !!!!!! you and i both know the millions of dollars this state is losing keeping this stupid law. florida's tourism dollars skyrocked after they repealed thier law. THE DEATH RATE STAYED THE SAME. but they were smart enough to increase AWARENESS. michiganistan is still in the dark ages when it comes to allowing more FREEDOM to it's citizens. WILL THE LAST PERSON OUT OF MICHIGANASTAN PLEASE TURN OUT THE LIGHTS AND LOCK THE DOOR....

    real use of helmets

might be to facilitate motorcycle accident clean-up. Keeps brain remnants in helmet container so that there is less mess to clean up after a deadly motorcyle accident.

helmets for all motorists ?? are you..

kinding ? these people that have been crying for continued helmet use for motorcyclists would bitch up a storm. can you inagine people haveing to wear a helmet in a car in july and august. with all that humidity and heat ??? there would be more wrecks from them passing out. but, it's ok for bikers to suffer from the same fatigue. after all they are only bikers (fathers, mothers brothers, sisters, etc.) can you imagine the governor having to wear a helmet to a news conferance in her limosine. talk about a bad hair day !!! and lastly you won't know which helmet is APPROVED because the michiganistan state police can't give you a list of APPROVED HELMETS because there isn't one. so how could you be safe from youself ? it's to bad that the ones that want us to stay alive with helmets on, don't practice the same went driving thier cat or truck. after all there are way more head trama deaths and injurys in cars and trucks than motorcycles. and YES, you have to pay for those people... for life !!!! to bad they didn't wear a helmet when they were driving. who wants to see brain splatter inside a car or truck ???

This State is not for sale Dickie Boy!
  • 04-14-2007 8:59 PM In reply to

    yes it is.

the democrats, paid for by the unions, have it all bought and paid for. they have jennie in there, collecting taxes, they have the unions permanently ensconced, collecting union dues, and the 'govmint cheeze eaters' are outnumbering the 'govmint cheeze BUYERS' by a large margin. the democrats keep telling us that they are for 'the people'. tell me how releasing inmates and closing prisons are good for any other people other than 'the people' that are in jail. tell me how firing state troopers is good for any other people than 'the people' that are in jail. tell me how banning life in prison for juveniles is good for any other people than 'the people' that are in jail. that's just three examples of the democrat's PANDERING TO THOSE WHO PUT THEM IN OFFICE. let's not even talk about how "good time" is good for any other people than 'the people' that are in jail.
  • 04-16-2007 5:28 PM In reply to

First off, if Devos is who you are reffering to as "Dickie boy" you're a little late in making your idiotic remark. Second, how would bringing more jobs to Michigan have been putting Michigan for sale? I'm assuming you are either a woman or a union worker. If you're a woman hasn't the novelty of having a woman governor worn off by now all things considered? If you're a union worker (as am I) aren't you smart enough to see that 6-figure job losses, all on Granholm's watch, aren't exactly good of the working man like you and I? I work with a lot of guys who think that if you vote Democratic all the time that everything will be fine, but unfortunately that's as limited as thier political insite gets. Third, WHAT DOES ANY OF THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE HELMET LAW?!
