    respecting the rights?

so, how is taking any reference to religion, the word "God", out of the pledge respecting the rights of those who "choose" to have religion?
  • 09-19-2006 8:58 PM In reply to

    maybe we should add

another line, one that says "IF THERE IS A GOD".
  • 09-19-2006 9:22 PM In reply to

    Vice versa

Actually, in my experience, it usually works the other way. People who have and practice their faith are expected to be tolerant of everyone else, no matter how repugnant the behavior. When religious people stand up and say that something is offensive or wrong, we are accused of being narrowminded.

    one big part

of patriotism is SACRIFICE. we all have to make them.

    chew on this:

You people make me sick. I have to listen to your political griping, and how we have to allow same-sex couples and such. But, when it comes to accepting, or living with another's point of view, God, your creator (whether your heathen self believes it or not)is out of the question!!!???!?!?!
  • 09-26-2006 4:31 PM In reply to

School is not a place for accepting belief

It is a place for learning facts. Students should have a CHOICE to say God or not. Period. God was ADDED to the pledge. THAT'S a fact. The country will not go to hell in a handbasket if a few make the choice not to say GOD. This is the land of the free the home of the brave, is it not? Or were we invaded overnight, and I MISSED IT. Church is a place for listening to beliefs and deciding whether you believe what they believe. SCHOOL is a different place.

    Pledge choice

Students already have a choice to say God in the pledge or not. They also have a choice not to say the pledge at all.

    thank you!!!!

FINALLY!!! someone who DOESN'T hav etheir head up their ass!

    hmmmm.

Well, for those of you who grew up on the steppes of Mother Russia, this is a bad thing. Oh, no. Little Kids saying the pledge to their home. Well, it seems like this 16 year old has more sense than a lot of you. Is it so bad that the word 'God' is included? I mean, it doesn't say whose god, and if you are one of the sorry few who don't have a god, too bad. YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY IT.
  • 09-27-2006 11:32 AM In reply to

    Right!

You know, it seems like someone knows the facts! finally... I wish everyone had half as much sense as you. Land of the FREE. Possibly the best point i have heard yet.
  • 09-27-2006 11:34 AM In reply to

    That's correct!

    I. Love. You! you are probably the only one who realizes that the problem here isn't what goes on at school; that it's the SCHOOL that's the problem

    I hear ya

These same people who don't want CHRISTmas to exist, are the same ones who make a huge profit on it.

    mmhmmm

that's just how these ex-hippies drug-addled minds work. they just want something dumb to protest and get worked up about.

    Thank you.

let's save our energy for the stuff that matters! you are one of the few voices of reason I have seen on this site.
  • 09-27-2006 4:16 PM In reply to

Have you read The Last Templar or The Expected One?

That's why some folks have issues with religion in school at all BECAUSE they believe we've been lied to and true history covered up. Makes you think.
  • 09-27-2006 4:44 PM In reply to

Some are constantly ranting we should all say god if we are patriotic

You can be incredibly patriotic and NOT say god.
  • 09-27-2006 6:38 PM In reply to

    why is it

that the "religious" have to be "inclusive" and "co-operative", but the "athiests" don't?
  • 09-27-2006 7:20 PM In reply to

    some people are

constantly ranting and raving that we should NOT SAY GOD.
  • 09-28-2006 1:16 PM In reply to

    school/church/belief

school is a place to learn facts. church is a place to learn facts. both are places to learn beliefs. beliefs are NOT ALWAYS based on fact, at least not PROVABLE FACT. if it is your belief that God does not exist, then by all means, when the "under God" part comes up, remain silent.
  • 10-11-2006 4:33 AM In reply to

    why is it

whenever compromise must be made, the liberals always expect the conservatives to do it?
  • 10-29-2006 10:34 AM In reply to

    why is it

when a liberal tries to "mandate" something, it's fine and dandy, as it is percieved as being for the PUBLIC GOOD. and when a conservative tries to "mandate" something, it's terrible, "shoving God down our throats", etc. the libs don't mind shoving everything else down OUR throats, but when it's something they DISAGREE WITH... lookout.

Can't think of anything MORE wrong than shoving god down someone's throat.

Murder maybe or a sex crime, but THAT'S IT. Religion is the base of the majority of conflict throughout history. Might want to think about reducing ORGANIZED religion and letting people find god in their own way. I LOVED that movie Stigmata. I think that says it ALL.
  • 10-29-2006 8:44 PM In reply to

    i can believe

that it would really hurt your little feelings about having God shoved down your throat. so, why don't the liberals like yourself quit trying to shove THEIR agenda down everyone else's throat?
  • 10-29-2006 9:20 PM In reply to

I would reply but I've got something down my throat which makes

    it difficult. lol
  • 10-30-2006 2:46 AM In reply to

  • 11-01-2006 1:35 PM In reply to

    Behavior

Actually, behavior has gotten worse since parents stopped being parents and started trying to be their kids' friends. That can be traced right back to the 60s when people began to forget that words like "right", "wrong", "moral" and "immoral" actually meant something.

    isn't that about the

time when democrats quit being democrats and started being LIBERALS?

    Voting

I think this is an important bill. My neice has to recite the pledge of allegiance in spanish everyday. Last I checked we were in the U.S. not Mexico. And another thing I hope Devos wins. Who would be stupid enough to vote for the one person who has put our state at the bottom of the pile? Don't you read? Or do you only go to liberal websites? I voted for her the first time. She won't be getting my vote again.
  • 11-07-2006 6:22 AM In reply to

    not going to happen

Everyone I know is able to read and has discovered that Devos is the man for the job. Unless of course you want our state actually in the crapper rather than circling the edge.
  • 11-07-2006 6:24 AM In reply to

    a movie?

I am not a faithful church goer. However, I do feel there is a higher being and I always tell my brownies that if they are more comfortable saying Allah, Buddah or whomever they pray to that is fine with me. But, to take God out is rediculous. It's there and it meant something to them so long ago. Maybe you should look into it. I did.
  • 11-07-2006 6:28 AM In reply to

    leftist

leftist want the US to be run by the UN. Don't you see that? They want us to get the ok from the UN before we strike anyone. If someone isn't following the resolutions at the UN and you tell them you are going to strike you better do it. So why were they so easy on Saddam because of the oil for food scandal folks. Do you really want these people to govern you? Do you want them to take our guns and our voices. Because we won't have a say in how our country is run if we hand it over to the UN. Come on don't you people read anymore? Go buy the Clinton's book. You'll see.
  • 11-13-2006 4:59 PM In reply to

    congratulations.

your daughter will STILL have to recite the pledge in spanish, and whatever language the liberals think is politically correct. maybe french. they like to surrender too.
  • 11-13-2006 5:21 PM In reply to

Have you ever ASKED someone who doesn't believe in god

how they feel when everyone else is saying god or ever asked a legislator how they feel while everyone else is praying at the beginning of a session?
  • 11-13-2006 5:22 PM In reply to

I think it's time for Michiganians to stand on their own two feet

and stop whining to god for help. Get er done.
