Detroit-Three Bailout?

So is this really the answer, or is it just either a postponement of the inevitable bankruptcy or the first step of a nationalization? Does the reported imposition of a raft of new labor and "green car" mandates suggest the latter?

wait till the left gets in power, they'll either let it slide completely, or just nationalize it "FOR OUR OWN GOOD"

i'm betting on nationalization.

so much for the auto industry in america.

It is neither a postponement of bankruptcy or a nationalization, it is a government loan to get the auto industry through an economic crisis created by 8 years of incompetent government driven by an ideology rather than common sense.

Clinton had to bail us out of Reagan's ideologically driven debt, now it is left for Obama to bail us out of W's ideological disaster.

Good thing the "left" is there to clean up after the right.

Just a postponement of the inevitable.  The big three model is not sustainable in a global marketplace.  Just look at the financials of these companies.  There is no way they can make it.  All we are doing is taking money from productive people and companies and giving it to dying unproductive ones.

This has nothing to do with Left or Right, per se.  This flushing has been happeining since the 60's.  This is just the end of the line.

I am blown away most of you guys here actually think Barry is going to be beettr for America.. C'mon..Palin had a bad interview. Guess what, no politician, CEO or common jerk is perfect. Everyone has a bad day. McCain is not a bad choice.. at least he has a history of speaking up when he doesn't agree with his party. He seems like a leader. Barry/O Bama seems like an "intellectual" and not at all clued into free market or what it takes to turn this country around.Let's all just agree that this f-ing bill is WRONG and not going to work.. and our govt will vote for it - bi partisan.. and guess what.. McCain and/or Barry is going to inherit this Mess...now tell me again.. you really think Barry is going to rally our government to try and turn around this mess? Seriously? He was in bed with ACORN, Freddie Mac, Fannie etc.. just do some research people...vote McCain.. he's our best hope at this point..

McCain Is Losing The SNL WarPosted by Ashish on 09.28.2008John McCain is turning into this year's Al Gore. There is stnmohieg that is becoming very clear now -- John McCain is getting killed in what I like to call the SNL war. SNL, along with a group of other shows (late night and daytime talk shows, morning shows, the Daily Show, Colbert, basically any entertainment show that people watch for fun that also sometimes covers politics briefly) play very important roles in Presidential elections -- they help define candidates. They are shows that cover politics briefly, but that regular people who don't follow politics watch. These shows serve as the only window into politics that many average people have. Many people don't watch debates, or political speeches, or cable news channels, but they still vote. How do they form their opinion of candidates? They do so based on the images of the candidates that come across from the mainstream entertainment shows that happen to cover some politics.Sarah Palin was a phenomenon until SNL turned her into a national laughing stock. They absolutely tore her apart last night. But the key here is that these types of skits only work when they touch on the truth. It's only funny if it shines light on what people are already starting to think. America has been losing confidence in Sarah Palin for weeks because of her decision to hide from the media, and then when she finally did give interviews, she bombed. So when people see her turned into a joke on SNL, it rings true because it's already the direction they were moving in and just like that, she is defined as a person who is clueless and way over her head. And now, we are seeing the same thing happen to John McCain. Over the past three weeks, we have seen SNL, David Letterman, and just about every entertainment show change McCain from an honorable hero to a negative-attacking, politically calculating liar who was scared to debate Obama. Now the initial response might be that these are just comedic shows, that people don't take them so seriously. Wrong. History has shown that these images that get created from popular shows play huge roles, because again, a big chunk of people who vote do not really pay attention to the election. They base their views on what reaches them via the shows they already watch anyways, not cable news. Some might say this is an example of the liberal media bias. Wrong again. Al Gore and John Kerry, the Democratic nominees, were the losers of this same war in 2000 and 2004.
