2011 House Bill 5192: Revise Detroit police and fire pension board selection (Senate Roll Call 18)
Passed 35 to 2 in the Senate on January 25, 2012, to clarify that if the Detroit fire and police pension board member who is supposed to represent retirees is selected according to a method specified in the city charter, then deciding who to select would be a prohibited subject of collective bargaining with government employee unions, and any union agreement specifying a different person or method would be null and void. See also House Bill 4135, now Public Act 25 of 2011, which dealt with the same issue.
