Passed 34 to 1 in the Senate on May 6, 2009, to appropriate up to $500,000 to pay for the remonumentation of the Michigan-Indiana state line proposed by Senate Bill 374. Because of a $15 million "fund raid" in 2006, the money would come out of the state general fund.

Senate Roll Call 146 on 2009 Senate Bill 375
It seems to me that one of government’s fundamental tasks is
to accurately and reliably, survey, map and mark borders and various land division
boundaries. This establishes reference
points as a basis for all land surveys that follow.
Over time surveyed boundary markers
(monuments) get moved, lost, obscured, etc. Confirming, reestablishing and documenting the location of
monuments – simple maintenance, really -- is an important and basic task.
Yes, it is imperative that they highlight the border between Michigan and Indiana so that everyone will be able to see clearly the line that separates the territory governed by idiots from the rest of the country! With Michigan's deplorable financial condition and astronomical unemployment this expenditure is mandatory to protect the unsuspecting non-resident from wandering into our wasteland. If the governor signs this bill and authorizes this absolute waste of money while the residents of this state suffer, she's a moron!
Well, Damn it!
That's my money too. Why do these people think the well is bottomless?
What are we doing? sure $500,000.00 is chump change, right!?
