Introduced by Sen. Wayne Kuipers (R) on February 18, 2009, to grant a 33 percent pension increase to school employees who are eligible to retire and do so before June 30, 2010. The bill authorizes up to $3 billion in new pension liabilities to the state. This reflects a proposal advanced by the Michigan Education Association teachers union.

it didn't take an economist, a mathematician or a fancy calculator to tell that this plan would not save money. it took something you don't give anybody any credit for having. simple common sense. i'm glad you had an open mind about it, though.
