2015 House Bill 4487

Mandate “comparable worth” wages

Introduced in the House

April 21, 2015

Introduced by Rep. Gretchen Driskell (D-52)

To prohibit paying a person a wage or salary that is less than an amount established under a proposed definition of comparable worth, making it a violation of the state civil rights law. The bill would prohibit different levels of compensation for work of “comparable value,” meaning a “comparable composite skill, responsibility, effort, education or training, and working conditions.” House Bill 4486 would create a government commission to establish how different kinds of work, experience, training, conditions, etc. would be measured and weighted for enforcement purposes.
