2014 House Bill 5921

Ban "photo-cop” traffic tickets

Introduced in the House

Nov. 6, 2014

Introduced by Rep. Mike Shirkey (R-65)

To prohibit the use of automated, unmanned traffic monitoring devices ("photo-cops") for issuing traffic law tickets. A Michigan driver who was issued an automated ticket in another state would not get “points” on his or her license. See also House Bill 4763 and Senate Bills 1045 and 1063, which would permit local governments to use “photo-cop” systems to enforce traffic laws and collect revenue.
