2014 House Bill 5685: Authorize local government drain petitions
  1. Introduced by Rep. Al Pscholka (R) on June 12, 2014, to permit local governments (in addition to property owners) to petition a drain commission for a drain (usually a network of ditches) to remove excess water from lands that traverse more than one county. Taxpayers in the petitioning city, village or townships would then be liable for a portion of the costs.
    • Referred to the House Local Government Committee on June 12, 2014.
      • Reported in the House on October 2, 2014, with the recommendation that the substitute (H-1) be adopted and that the bill then pass.
