2014 House Bill 5520: Expand grounds for suing insurance companies
Introduced by Rep. Theresa Abed (D) on May 6, 2014 To allow a person who believes that an auto insurance provider has not dealt fairly and in good faith on a personal injury claim to sue for compensatory, consequential, and exemplary (punitive) damages proximately caused by the breach, notwithstanding the prohibition on punitive damages in other areas of Michigan tort law.   Official Text and Analysis.
