2014 House Bill 5331

Prohibit public money to candidate in uncontested gubernatorial primary

Introduced in the House

Feb. 18, 2014

Introduced by Rep. Tom Leonard (R-93)

To prohibit a candidate in a primary election held to determine a party’s candidate for governor from choosing to accept money from a state campaign fund if he or she has no opponent in the primary. Taking this money requires a candidate to limit contributions from other sources. The money comes from a combination of individual income tax checkoffs and general state tax revenues.
