2010 Senate Bill 1200

Revise details of putative father procedures

Introduced in the Senate

March 3, 2010

Introduced by Sen. Ray Basham (D-8)

To enact miscellaneous changes to the law dealing with putative father who seek paternity rights or custody. Among other things this would stay an adoption proceeding if a paternity suit is brought; grant paternity to a putative father seeking paternity rights if the mother does not object; establish a “best interest of the child” standard for not granting custody in these cases; establish a child support formula; and more.
